FX have just announced renewals of:

It's Always Sunny (moving to new FXX network)
Justified
The League (moving to new FXX network)
Legit (moving to new FXX network)
Totally Biased (moving to new FXX network with an expanded 5 night a week run)

They've also confirmed Louie will return May 2014, Sons of Anarchy will return September 2014. Shown a clip from The Bridge, apparently it's "dark, gritty" and announced another new network, FXM, featuring miniseries from Sam Mendes, Sutton and Mad Dogs (presumably a remake, don't anything other than a title).

Happy that Legit has been renewed, I wasn't sure it would make a second season. It's brilliant, if you get the chance check it out...

CBS have announced a few as well (some of these already known)

Elementary
Person of Interest
2 Broke Girls
Hawaii Five-0.
NCIS: Los Angeles,
The Good Wife,
The Mentalist,
Blue Bloods
Mike & Molly

Pleased about Elementary, Person of Interest, 2BG, H5O and Blue Bloods. Also pleased for The Mentalist as I do watch it but I'm just concerned they'll be stretching the Red John arc to near breaking point.

The good wife has been on the near cancellation mark for ages, but i knew CBS wouldn't let it go as critics love it and it always gets several nominations at the emmy's and golden globes.

They have also just signed a massive syndication deal for the first 4 seasons including the one currently on air.

Starting with Lovefilm and then cable repeats. So given its a CBS owned and produced show its no surprise they want more episodes.

Critical acclaim and awards mean shit for anyone except AMC and premium cable networks.

Syndication is probably the only thing keeping it alive, because it's probably not that cheap to produce. 100 episodes are needed for effective syndication, once it hits that number it may run into problems. Syndication is often the only thing that keeps averagely rated shows alive, once the distributor collects that money, they couldn't give a shit so won't cut any special deals in an attempt to get renewed. Special deals (given to reach syndication) are often what makes the figures work for averagely rated shows.

In other words, it's more likely to be cancelled after 100 episodes because of the syndication deal. Up to 5 seasons and syndication is your friend, after 5 seasons it may well become an enemy.

Picked up a while back but great to see Girls getting a third season.

Shame Happy Endings appears gone but also great to see Modern Family should be fine.

Happily surprised about Revolution! It really has improved for me since it returned.

Did it really improve? I gave up after about 4 or 5 episodes and just assumed it was another high concept show heading to an inevitable cancellation. Maybe I should go back and give it another chance.

Strange that Nikita wasn't included in the renewals....it's 99.9% certain anyway,

Can't believe BatB is renewed.

I'm quite happy with that - I still quite like the show, even though Alan's character is, at times, quite unlikeable. Doesn't really surprise me that Angus T. Jones hasn't signed on though, considering his reduced role and "that" tape.

Really pleased this has got a renewal (they certainly kept us waiting) I know its not everyones cup of tea but I really enjoy its gentle humour and sort of old fashioned feel.

The second half of this series (s2) really did pickup and I would have been dissappointed it it had been cancelled.

Not every show can be a Boardwalk Empire, Madmen or Homeland - there has to be room for average shows as well
