I wonder if they will get Melissa McCarthy back. I will be surprised if they do.

I believe the reason for revival is that the creator left over creative differences before the final season and never got to do the ending she had always planned. There were mixed responses regarding the show's finale.

I wouldn't call it desperate as it's doing well for a friday night show. If it was flopping but they still gave it a full season order, then yeah, it would be desperate.

I'd rather see a new season of Bunheads but most of the cast would be too old now

NBC have ordered a pilot script for Cruel Intentions. The series will act as a sequel to the first film. This sounds like something that would be ideal on The CW.

Switched At Birth renewed for a fifth season

ABC Family are rebranding next year. From January, they will be known as Freeform.

Yahoo might be dis-continuing doing original television shows. This is due to revealing that they made a loss of 42 million dollars.

What an awful choice, sounds like a name given to a certain item that women use each month.

Apparently ABC Family considered over 3,000 possible new names before deciding upon ‘Freeform’. I must admit that when I read that I thought – 3,000 possible names and that’s the best you came up with!?

For those interested, the networks previous names were CBN Family Channel, The Family Channel, and Fox Family.

Terrible name change. Reminds me of those generic names you get over here like pick and yourtv. Why have they ditched the abc branding?

Sounds more like a women's hygiene product.

Indeed. Makes one wonder what the other 2,999 horrific choices might have been.

Maybe ABC got the freeform.com dirt cheap.

Though name changing for reasons of Internet address is a bit 90s isn't it?

It's an awful title but i am glad they changed it. For a network called ABC family, a handful of their shows are not what you would imagine an american family sitting down to watch. Stitchers and Liars are both dark dramas..Young and Hungry and Baby Daddy are both filled with dirty jokes and adult humor.

They made a huge mistake getting shot of the "junior" team, and the show simply felt tired so not surprised its ending. Watched from ep 1 but once the second team went I gave up on it.

And deciding upon a poor network name that risks alienating your audience just because you can get the URL is also extremely short sighted.
Far better to spend a fortune securing the URL... it’ll be beneficial in the long run.

I don’t believe this has anything to do with why they chose Freeform though.

Instant Mon (starring ‘Sister Sister’ star Tia Mowry-Hardrict) has been cancelled after 3 seasons.
I’d consider it a Nick-at-Nite programme, but its first runs have been broadcast a bit all over the place - Season 1 aired on Nick-at-Night, Season 2 on Nick-at-Nite and NickMom, and Season 3 is running on TV Land and NickMom.
It recently started airing on Nickelodeon in the UK.

Also interesting is that it’ll be the last original programme on Nick at Nite for at least a while. There are no other originals ready for air, although some projects were in development.

I did explain that the phenomenon was rather nineties in flavour. It was a poor (obviously) attempt at humour to explain the almost inexplicable.

Ah, I was quite liking it. Oh well, that's another one off the list.

I've given up on Chicago PD, way too soapy.

A lot of other shows have become watch and delete shows.

Limitless got a full season pick up while Code Black got six backup scripts. I have a feeling CB will get a short episode order before being replaced by Criminal Minds Beyond Borders.

As for ABC Family becoming Freeform, I think XYZ would have been better. Apparently they couldn't remove Family from the name before so it's weird that they can do it now. Apparently the CBN programming will remain when it rebrands.
