Yes it is much better with a 2 part season, rather than having a break here or there every couple of weeks or so.

No...that would be showing it late Dec or early Jan...showing it in Feb isn't treating the show with any decency, especially as we will be well over half the season behind.

Tell me about it. It was so frustrating, having a random break after every couple of episodes used to make me so angry. US shows are a lot better now as they seem to just have one long break in the middle. Works a lot better as I feel like it stops them really dragging out things.

Do these 2 part seasons help or hinders ratings in the States?

You could argue a case for both.
Broadcasting episodes weekly without interruption, but with a long mid-season break, might increase an audience as they are more likely to be consistent returning viewers week after week. However, having a long mid-season break might result in viewers not returning at all for the second half of the season.

I think if you look at a few case studies the ratings often suggest the latter, with a programmes ratings sometimes dropping for the second half of the season after the break.

I wonder if the introduction of two uninterrupted parts to season with a break in the middle have something to do with antipiracy oversees? Could producers/distributers prefer selling the programmes in this way so international broadcasters can air programmes at US pace without the fear of a break every few weeks?

So it seems Sesame Street is moving to HBO
Will we finally get that sex scene we have always wanted between Big Bird and Elmo?

Yeah, I think this was announced in the summer. HBO will air the episodes first, and then PBS nine months later.
I think the reasoning behind it is money. The Children’s Television Workshop, or the Sesame Workshop as I think it’s now called, is a non-profit organisation and to get the funding it required it could no longer air exclusively on PBS.

So the first 5 episodes of Ash Vs Evil Dead is available exclusively on Virgin On Demand from the 1st December and new episodes will be added each week

Well I didn't expect that to happen!

Same. A different way of airing a show.

Wicked City's 5 remaining episodes will be airing in New Zealand. Episode four has already aired.

I often find other countries will air unaired episodes. E4 aired Marry Me's unaired episodes and Sky one aired About A Boy's unaired episodes.

Don't networks just put unaired episodes up on their website or something?

It varies but yes. Or they burn them off on a weekend or during summer.

Its a matter of opinion. I think by starting later and not having a break is better for the show. I am all for it. So what if you are half a season behind? You will finish at roughly the same time, and not have a stupid mid-season break.

Did they? I was watching and it disappeared from the Sky One schedule once they'd broadcast all of the episodes that had aired in the US. When did it return with the remaining episodes?

Any more info on this? Are Virgin going to start bidding for the rights to programmes themselves so that they can claim them as 'exclusive', in the same way Netflix and Amazon Prime do with some US shows?
If so, I suppose its not different to what Sky do, but they actually have TV channels to broadcast the programmes on!

A friend of mine who liked the show caught them on there. I don't know when.

Maybe they burned them off late or night or in the afternoon... hopefully I'll be able to catch them sometime (maybe in the box sets or something).

Slightly off topic but there is a big lawsuit involving the stars and producers of Bones against Fox. The same thing happened with David Duchovny back in the late 90's and it was what led to his eventual departure from the show a year later.

I don't blame them though. It seems they are not being paid what they owed. Especially from syndication and streaming deals, which is what actors rely on once the show goes off the air.

And now how many others involved in complex profits deals are getting their lawyers to look at the figures for their show closely.

Cos if one company thought they could get away with it how many others followed the same route.
