Already reported over in the X Files thread in the Cult forum but for those unaware as yet, Channel 5 have acquired the rights for the 6-part revival and not Sky 1 as expected.

Link.

I’d imagine that’ll be a big success for Channel 5, I’m really quite surprised Sky didn’t win it.
Interesting that 20 ‘hand picked’ episodes from the original series are also included in the deal.

Wow, I'm hugely surprised that Channel 5 have grabbed the X Files.

It's quite sad that no channel is really running any reruns of the show.

It's been on several channels in recent years, even H2 for some reason.

Homeland is their highest rated show. Of course it was going to be renewed. No shock there.

In a surprising move, Wayward Pines has been given a second season. FOX previously confirmed the show was a one off series. But they have obviously decided to change their mind. It returns in the summer.
I suspect it will feel like a significantly different show focusing on the teen cast.

The Leftovers renewed for a third and final season by HBO. A strange but compelling programme with some great acting, hope it gets some kind of agreeable ending.

Brilliant. Very happy. I love The Leftovers. One of the most beautiful and compelling shows on television.

I think Season 2 may be one of my most favourite seasons of any TV show. Fingers crossed Season 3 is just as good and has a good ending.

I suspect the 20 hand picked episodes will be the new HD widescreen versions unseen on UK TV before.

The X Files was on Sky Atlantic in recent years, which makes Sky not getting the rights to the revival even more surprising.
The deal Channel 5 have signed includes 20 ‘hand picked’ episodes from the original; series so it’ll be back on our screens very soon.

Cheers lm for this.

Really liking CM at the moment, even though I generally don't like medical procedurals. Maybe its because of the tie ins with Fire & PD, as it gives the show a broader canvas on which to base stories, Med just seems to have a bit more "oomph" than some of the other medical shows.

I'm with you on this. I don't go for hospital based tv shows, but as you say, because of the connection with Fire & PD it really works.

Mike and Molly to end after six seasons
According to one of the series regulars, the show was given 22 episodes but CBS decided to call time on the show and now there will only be 13 episodes. They film the final episode in late January.

I personally like the show. It's not groundbreaking but it has a nice charm. It did show it was become stale last season.

I am not shocked overall. I had a small feeling something was up, especially as CBS delayed the show until midseason. Plus they did the same with POI recently.

At least Melissa can focus on her movie career and maybe be available for the Gilmore girls revival.

I thought she'd been trying to get out of it since Bridesmaids?

Apparently. But there was no way she could drop out of M&M back then. She would of had to finish her contract. Or end up being sued

Quite sad about this M&M has become one of my favourite sit coms. Mostly because I'm a massive fan of Melissa. Saying that Molly wasnt my favourite character.

Given how her career has taken off I was actually surprised it got a 5th season. But obviously if she was in contract she had no choice.

Will be sad to see it end.

The show is already in syndication and Melissa McCarthy likely wanted to move on especially with her film career but it was a good steady gig for her and she likely didn't want to go until her contract expired.
