It does seem like they're rebooting the show to "Castle P.I.", as Hamlet has suggested.

Yet they'll keep Alexis and his mother. It makes no sense.

Well if it's "Castle P.I." then it makes sense as they're his family so they'll be around even if the others aren't.

I am not a fan of the show so it doesn't affect me but it intrigues me to discuss it

But why on earth are ABC screwing with the show? I think for the sake of the fans, it would be best if Nathan didn't renew his contract and it ended this season. The show coming back rests solely on Nathan and what if he doesn't like the idea of his co-stars not joining him for the final season.

And bringing in Hayley makes perfect sense now? Replacement lead female and my god have they worked hard to give her a backstory.

There was a rumour going around that he'd demanded - and received - a reduced workload on the show some years ago so it does make you wonder if there was enough of a divide amongst the cast that they've decided to pitch the idea of a reboot to him without anyone else involved ?

He hasn't, as yet, commented on either of the two that have left and you've have thought they'd have released a statement from him alongside Katic's.


I don't know who Hayley is - I haven't started Season 8 yet.

As soon as they started separating castle from Kate and turning him into a PI I just knew something like this would happen. I do like castle and his family but castle on his own just won't work and those fans of stana which I assume is many will turn off and if its not doing great now in the rating then surely this will put the final nail in the coffin.

I read about the reduced workload before season 6, but it didn't seem to affect too much in the end, but it must have put pressure on the rest of the cast especially Stana.

Now the rumours about the pair of them hating each other have resurfaced, including g the not talking off set issue.

Nathan has posted a statement on Twitter now, picture of a note typed on his phone so not restricted to 140 characters, usual platitudes about how great Stana was etc. Not much else. Nothing from Stana yet, but that's her usual response anyway.

I won't spoil it for you but Hayley was brought in and two episodes recently have worked like bills ho giving her a 'past' setting her up to replace as female lead.

ABC confirm they will be airing the second season of Secrets and Lies in the fall

There was a blind on the Showbiz Gossip thread some years back. About a new show where the two stars hated each other. The female was unfriendly and the crew also really disliked her as she was rude and thought herself the star to of the show. The male star was on tape calling her a C. He was well liked by all the cast and crew apart from her.

We found out the answer was Castle. So it used to make me laugh when people actually thought them a couple in real life.
