I don't think it was depressing at all and I don't think they needed pressure to improve because the show is fine as it. This season was slightly darker but for me, season 4's quality was no different than the other three seasons.

As for the writers and producers, they are told the ratings for each episode and they have been dreadful all season. And it seems they were too sure they were getting another season and all the signs are pointing towards a big cliffhanger for the finale.

Reign, The Originals, The 100, iZombie and new show Riverdale are saved for midseason.

It obviously was going down the wrong alley as ratings fell.

And if they knew what the ratings were doing then they didn't take any notice of them and change the way the show was going, which was the wrong way.

There is drama and there is Eastenders style depressing drama and Nashville went down the Eastenders route and it shows.

I don't think Supergirl and Jane the Virgin are a good pair up, but at least Supergirl is before Jane, It wouldn't work the other way around IMO.

4-way crossover

If it's not called 'Crisis on Earth......' I shall be most annoyed.

CBS only Star Trek and MacGyver piqued my interest. Everything else, not interested in seeing.

I think Riverdale will be the next big teen soap. The CW did previously find success with Gossip Girl and 90210.

It could well be. Archie comics are the last man standing of the teen comedy/romance genre. Been around for years.

Yes it is the one based on the Archie Comics but with a modern style like I've heard the comics are now as well!

Also I think the comics have a gay character in them and maybe Jughead is asexual

You need to look at it as a primetime soap rather than a drama.

Thoughts on CW promo's

Riverdale
The promo is quite poor really. It gives you no idea what the show is about apart from good looking teens with raging hormones having sex. But as i do know what it is about through on-line descriptions, I am looking forward to this a lot. I think it will be The CW's big hit of next season.

Frequency
Interesting concept dealing with the butterfly affect. But i can't see how it will work long term at all. It also does not seem like a CW show. More of a FOX show actually.

No Tomorrow
A comedy about an impending apocalypse. It sounds and looks awful. Nothing funny about it at all.

I'm looking forward to Frequency, I loved the film and the style of time changing it did. Just hope they do it justice.

Not looking forward to Riverdale and will almost certainly not watch it.

Looking forward to all the time travel shows this season.

Matt Le Blancs new sitcom Man With A Plan doesn't sound much good. They've recast Jenna Fischers part already plus it's going up against his buddy Matthew Perrys Odd Couple.

Firstly, thanks to everyone that has updated this thread throughout the week, it was fun reading.

As for my thoughts..

This season's new shows look weak to me, and I likely won't be picking up any new shows this season either. But the ones that do look interesting to me come from mainly ABC and FOX:

Prison Break (even though it looked crap)

American Gothic
Frequency

FOX have made a change to their schedule

Bones will be delayed until Winter and airing in it's place will be new series Pitch.

Both shows air on the same network CBS. Man with a plan will air at 8.30pm and Odd Couple at 9.30pm on a Monday in the fall.
