As for my thoughts..

This season's new shows look weak to me, and I likely won't be picking up any new shows this season either. But the ones that do look interesting to me come from mainly ABC and FOX:

Star
Notorious
Time after Time
Imaginary Mary
Prison Break (even though it looked crap)

American Gothic
Frequency”

American gothic?? The excellent show from the mid 1990s????

Another show I thought had cancelled written over it from the start. Glad I didn't get invested.

As awful as Imaginary Mary looks I feel I will tune in just to gawk at the trainwreck.

I'm hoping against hope that that Time After Time is okay-ish

Damien was on my catch up list, I did watch the first ep which looked OK but the problem with American show's is now most people are thinking we'll wait and see if it's renewed before we watch S1, something's got to change.

No relation apart from the title.

I'm really looking forward to Pitch - the trailer looks great, and MLB has apparently been heavily involved in the development of the show. I'm just surprised that Fox changed their schedule literally days after their Upfronts announcement - why wasn't Pitch scheduled for September already - you know, World Series season?! I guess the buzz for Pitch only increased after the trailer was released. I've got my fingers crossed that this one is a real winner, but the misogynistic comments on the show's YouTube channel are deeply disheartening.

Man With A Plan has cancelled written all over it.

Unfortunately not, it's this one on CBS: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-mHAk28kS1M.

It's annoying when they use the name of an older show for a show that isn't similar.

I know it's been a long time, but the Gothic part doesn't suit this show. It's just another 'American' titled show.

Well to be fair it's the name of a famous painting by Grant Wood - and it may well be more of a reference to that than the other show.

Trailer looks naff mind, so I doubt I'll bother to find out

I hope the painting is a pretty important plot point if that's the case.

Now we'll have to put up with American Gothic (2016) on the episode guides.

Didn't George Clooney appear in a show called E/R ten years before ER?

I agree. I watched the trailer last night and there is nothing really gothic about it. It's just a murder mystery show.

I doubt it to be honest. The painting is deeply ingrained in American culture, as well known as the Mona Lisa or Munch's The Scream. It's sometimes used as a short hand reference to families with dark (often murderous) secrets. Here in Dexter for example. The idea that there's a lot going on behind the façade etc. That's kind of what I expect here

Oh and the "gothic" is the architecture of the window of the farmhouse in the background. That's what gave the painting it's name and as such it can be very misleading. They mean to point to the painting as it were not necesarily dark brooding horror that we might associate with gothic

The extended trailer made it look like a very ‘by the book’ multi camera family based sitcom, and I think audiences expect a little more than that these days. I too wouldn’t be surprised if it was cancelled during its first season.

I’m slightly confused how Matt LeBlanc is going to manage his schedule too...
He’s got the Top Gear job, which is mostly in the can, but he still needs to be in the UK a couple of days a week for the next 6 weeks for the studio recordings. Not sure if there’s any more planned later in the year...
He’s got one more series of Episodes to do for Showtime/BBC, which is due to record in the UK later this year.
And now he’s got the first season of Man with a Plan, which is due to record imminently, and for the next 6+months, in LA.

He’s extremely busy right now!

Both Matt Le Blanc and Kevin James sitcoms scream flops. I agree above, they are too by the book. These look quite dated. But then so does Last Man Standing and it has a sixth season due. Although it would of most likely flopped if it had not been put on a friday. They type of shows you expect about 10 years ago. Not now when we live in a world with comedies like Mom, Modern Family, Black-ish, Brookyln 99, Veep, Silcon Valley etc etc. All of which are different and daring.

I just watched the trailer and it looks exactly like the sort of thing he's sending up in Episodes. Do you think Le Blanc needs the money that badly to do stuff like that or he can't get better offers? You would think that Episodes would give him enough credibility to get pick up for something a bit more relevant.

I assume the schedules has already been worked out in advance. I assume Man with a Plan won't shoot until July or August and Episodes shoots in the UK with bits in LA so I assume Matt will shoot the studios bit for Top Gear on one day and maybe film Episodes on the others days. Given that Man with a Plan won't be debuting until late October, they might not start recording the series until September which gives him to finish his other commitments

Just binge watched the never-aired episodes of Angel From Hell which was ruthlessly axed after only 5 episodes. I remember I had high hopes for it in the run-up and was rather disappointed by the episodes that did go out. I haven't seen Jane Lynch before in any other shows and for me her character in this didn't come across. Maggie Lawson is lovely though so I hope she gets a good role in some other show. Overall it was right to cancel the show but a bit harsh to not let viewers see the whole season.
