Hawaii Five O is apparently ending after seven seasons. No official confirmation but one of the cast members said on a morning chat show that it is the final season.

If there is to be any confirmation, i would expect it in two weeks time when CBS do their Summer TCA panel.

HBO are having their TCA panel at the moment

So far we have learned

HBO confirm Season eight will be the last season for Game of Thrones.
A spin off from the show is being discussed but nothing is certain
Westworld will premiere October 2nd
The Leftovers will air in GOT's usual slot next year
The script for the deadwood movie is still being written
True Detective is pretty much on Hold but far from being dead

HBO also orders a new Alan Ball series straight to order. Created by Ball, the untitled series focuses on a contemporary multi-racial family: a philosophy professor, his lawyer wife, their three adopted children from Somalia, Vietnam and Colombia, and their sole biological child. This seemingly perfect, progressive family is in actuality harboring deep rifts. Then, one of the children begins to see things others cannot. Is it mental illness? Or something else? The series is a tragicomic meditation on the complicated forces at work on us all in America today.

The CW is developing a thriller drama called Blowback (different to the usual CW series)
In Blowback, during a romantic weekend in New York City, a young financial analyst’s life is flipped upside down when his wife goes missing, he discovers a dead body in his hotel room, and everything he took for truth turns out to be a lie.

Two to look out for, for me

I gave up at the end of season 2 as I felt the story was told. i'd gotten to a point where i was watching it out of habit more than anything, so them getting the cure back to the states seemed to be the natural point to walk away.

I gave up on it a few episodes into season 1. Just not my type of show. Stuff to do with people wanting to find cures for pandemics or viruses really bore me. They work as 2 hour movies. Not as a yearly television series spread out among 10-13 episodes.

COOL.

I get the titillation factor but this is a good watch, well put together and a good supporting cast.

I actually thought the supporting cast was very very weak. Riley Keough carried that whole show by herself and that is very hard to do. She was the saving grace.

I enjoyed the first season, but the opening few minutes of episode 1 season 2 had me giving it a miss from then on. I know it says at the beginning of each episode that not all the facts are true to the actual story, but to have Charlie Manson at the scene of a murder with his followers was ridiculous. The whole point of Charlie Manson's involvement was as someone, who at a distance, used other people to carry out the crimes without getting his own hands dirty

This was an odd one. The cast member who said the 7th season would be the shows last was Jimmy Buffet (yes, that Jimmy Buffet) who has had no more than a cameo role in just 2 or 3 episodes of the shows 140+ episode run. He plays helicopter pilot Bama.
As you’ve said, the executive producer has responded to Jimmy Buffet saying “whoever gave you that info is wrong. Bama is alive and well... For many many MORE seasons”.

For what it’s worth, I suspect the 7th season may well be the shows final season (largely due to the fact all cast contracts expire). But I wouldn’t expect CBS to make such an announcement until the end of the season, it would risk viewers not bothering to watch this season if they knew it was coming to an end.

I’m absolutely amazed it got a second season based on its ratings. And what with its current ratings I’m amazed it hasn’t been removed from the schedules all together.
I’m thinking there’s some contractual reason that got it a second season and that has kept it on the air. Once that’s gone (presumably at the end of season 2) I’m sure it’ll be cancelled.

NBC claim it was renewed due to strong numbers on their catch up service as they made the whole season available. But it has been a disaster overall. And to think the show is actually planned to run to six seasons. Bad luck. I can't see how a show with such a limited plot line can drag to six seasons. Oh well. Once it's cancelled. that opens Duchovny's schedule for more XF.

Yes, NBC were quite experimental with the first season of Aquarius – making all the episodes available online via Hulu and NBC.com before it then aired weekly on NBC. In fact they were quite experimental with this second season too, airing the first 3 episodes back to back, commercial free, in a 2 hour prime time ‘event’.
But the first seasons broadcast ratings were poor, no doubt about that. If it did so well online (as NBC claim), why not continue it as a Hulu exclusive or something?

I have no evidence, but I suspect NBC were contractually committed to commissioning a minimum of 2 seasons, and to broadcasting all episodes on NBC (regardless if ratings success).

It wouldn't surprise me if that was right.

Not surprised with that one, not the greatest of shows.
