Aha, ok. It's a real shame. They obviously must have thought they were in with a chance of being picked up so gambled on a cliffhanger. I remember reading the producers of Leverage took a gamble the other way and filmed an episode that would serve as a series finale just in case, and it did get cancelled.
Sorry to see CSI: New York go but not in the slightest bit surprised, seeing as how it barely hung on last year. With CSI: Vegas being the one remaining franchise, will they try and launch another spinoff perhaps?. Quote:
Southland apparently in talks for a 2-hour wrap up movie.
Rules of Engagement cancelled. Gutted. ![]() Golden Boy gone as well. |

Shame:
Happy Endings, Rules of Engagement, Body of Proof, Smash, Go On, Monday Mornings, ![]() ![]() For me Monday Mornings was a highlight of last season. So nice to have a hospital drama that's not all romance and babiesI've also just seen I've lost Southland and Golden Boy the only two cop shows I watched - so not in a good mood this morning |

CSI:Cleveland?
They've got the cast of Vegas pretty much spot on now, but I wouldn't object to some guest appearances from any of the Miami or NY cast though. |

Shame, I enjoyed it but it did lack a cutting edge which given the cast was a waste.

The US version of Pulling hasn't been picked up but Sharon Horgan's other sitcom Bad Management is being considered for midseason. Steve Coogan's drama Doubt and the adaptation of the Sky series Spy have both been dropped as has the Jennifer Beals soap Westside.

The New Normal has been cancelled by NBC and I am absolutely gutted about that. One of the best new shows on TV this year!

Not surprised CSI NY is gone, Season 8 was poor and although I have only seen 7 of the 17 episodes in S9, only one of them has really gripped me out of those 7 and even then it's not as gripping as other great shows like Person of Interest and Hawaii Five 0.
It probably could have done with some refeshing of cast, which seems to have done CSI Vegas some favours. As I said earlier in the thread, Mac is too sanctimonious, Jo is really irritating, Lynsey has always been dire (she might work as a recurring lab tech, but she is awful in the emotional/personal stuff). Hawkes can be a bit too smug and Danny used to be cool, but has really become more boring since being lumped with Lynsey. The tragedy here is the writers seemed to realise they wouldn't work as a couple and had them drift, but when Anna Belknap fell pregnant in real life, they seemed to be locked into the idea that the only way to deal with this was have the pregnancy written into the show and use it to get Danny and Lynsey together for good. I wonder if Belknap hadn't been pregnant, or if the writers tried to ignore or hide the pregnancy like they did in CSI Miami when Emily Procter was up the spout, then maybe the show would have taken a different direction and may have survived. Anyway I'm sad that they have cancelled the show even though it hadn't been as good in recent seasons I still enjoyed watching it as I liked the cast

2 broke girls averages between 8-10 million. New normal averages around 3-4 million. They are on two different networks. You might not like 2 Broke girls but it's a ratings hit, simple as. ![]() I am eager to hear the future about Hannibal. The ratings are dreadful and I want to know whether to delete my recordings of it or not. |

2 Broke Girls is hitting 2.7's and sometimes more in the 18-49 demographic why The New Normal was struggling with 0.9 and 1.0's which are poor (like most NBC shows this season)

If it had been on a pay channel would probably have been renewed. Problem like me its audience is too old for network TV advertisers, as in total audience it beat shows on CBS which were renewed. |

However from what I have read with the big cast changes it became a Bones lite with more emphasis on the police and interrogation rather than medical. Also probably made it to similar to Rizzoli & Isles although thart is the other way round with police as the lead. |

Why has Modern Family been renewed. It's the biggest load of tosh I have ever seen. Guess its cheap to make and there is some weird people out there who enjoy it.

It's the biggest sitcom in the US, that would be why it's renewed...

Has major crimes been renewed or was it already axed? I really like that show, I like the main woman and it feels a bit like New Tricks with the older cops but mixed with younger cops.
Dont worry i did some googling and i think series two starts in the summer. |

Freshman Scripted Shows
ABC: Renewed 2 (Nashville & The Neighbours). Cancelled 7 (666 Park Avenue, Family Tools, How To Live..., Last Resort, Malibu County, Red Widow, Zero Hour) CBS: Renewed 1 (Elementary) Cancelled 4 (Golden Boy, Partners, Made In Jersey, Vegas) FOX: Renewed 2 (The Following, Mindy Project) Cancelled 2 (Ben & Kate, The Mob Doctor) NBC: Renewed 2 (Chicago Fire, Revolution) Cancelled 7 (1600 Penn, Go On, New Normal, Deception, Do No Harm, Guys With Kids, Animal Practice) Some shows ordered this time last year are yet to premiere and some were cancelled before reaching the air. Of the shows to premiere roughly 1 in 4 reach a second season. I don't think this is good for viewers, writers or the network. Will viewers bother with your new shows next year knowing that their more likely to be cancelled than renewed and you could be left with an unsatisfactory ending to a show you've got invested in? Or do they head to cable where shows tend to get treated with a bit more respect. Until this changes and the networks begin to show more patience Broadcast TV in the US will continue declining. The system needs to change. TV takes a vacation for three months which is frustrating for the viewer and when it comes back there is just a dump of TV shows which is overwhelming. There might be 7 or 8 pilots that interest you but there are already some established show you enjoy watching which tend to take the priority. So you just don't watch the shows. I think a more staggered approach would be better. Launch 2 or 3 shows in September and then December, March, June. Mid-season shows now kind of have come with a perception that their not brilliant hence they've been held back. It makes you appreciate UK TV that bit more though. |

The Mindy Project and The Carrie Diaires should have been cancelled.
Some fans are angry at TNT and somewhat at HBO because of Southland and Enlightened. Network tv execs aren't always the bad guys

Enlightened's ratings were awful from the start, the fact it got a second season was pure luck. It got like 200,000 viewers a week. Shame though as it was "the little show that could do a whole lot"
This television season has been incredibly poor for new shows and the fact that so many of them have been cancelled pretty much confirms it. I think the only decent shows from this television season have been Nashville and Arrow, while the continuing shows continue to get stronger and stronger. |
