I think it's about to come out of copyright so everyone can have a go at it.

Speaking of which, is there any news on whether the Scream TV series will be getting a third season?

None. I have heard a few rumors

One rumor is that it has already been cancelled and the upcoming halloween special is serving as a wrap up

Second rumor is that MTV are waiting to see how well the Halloween special does in the ratings before making a decision

A new canadian series has been picked up by Lifetime. It sound really good. Quite dark and a different. The title is very blunt

Show description below. The section in bold, yes – very ‘Blue Bloods’, but I think the section after that will make it a very different show.

“Kin is loosely based on Cundiff’s extended family growing up which included several cops. The drama centers on a tight-knit Florida law-enforcement family who become the primary suspects in the disappearance of a notorious drug cartel leader following a DEA plane crash. But the undercover federal agent assigned to find out the truth is seduced by the loving and lethal clan, compromising his mission and his life.”

I suppose you could admire them for wanting to broaden their horizons, but I don’t know why MTV has started venturing into the world of scripted dramas. They’ve had great success with the likes of Teen Mom and Jersey Shore, and more recently with Teem Mom OG and Catfish: The TV Show – these are relatively cheap to produce (when compared to scripted drama) and provide good ratings.
Why do they continue to pursue more expensive original dramas with only mixed results at best. Why not stick to what you’re good at and what’s working?

Many rumours saying it will be picked up by Netflix as they already have exclusive rights to the show in most of the world. I've heard it does better on Netflix than on MTV, no surprise given how little MTV have spent promoting the show. It's been treated horribly by its own network despite its huge fanbase, such a shame.

Others saying MTV have already cancelled too much of their scripted shows to cancel any more, and Scream will be renewed. If they care about their credibility they'll keep it.

The best show on TV that hardly anyone is watching.

Truly brilliant.

Well, I know that it's show that many enjoy, but speaking for myself i gave up on it near the end of season 2. The Shondaland way of filming a story is just too irritating to watch. It's another example of style over substance as far as I'm concerned. It's also a style that over time will date, especially as it seems to be the signature of any series they make.

How does Hawley get away with it? He's f****d up three shows at least.

They may as well cancel it now.

H 77, still bitter and twisted about what the idiot did to Castle.

Oh no when will TV learn you can't do a contemporary drama based on H. G. Wells book. Certainly you cannot hope to use the book for a suitable modern show. It'll be an unholy mess, an insult to THE best sci fi book of all time or not even remotely close to having any relevance to the book at all.

If you disagree read the book and then sort out you opinion.

I agree, the contemporary versions of the book are OK as scifi films but do not do the story justice.

The War of the Worlds Musical got it right though, and IMO even improved on the book.

I agree and they could do worse than get Jeff Wayne, the people behind Glee and some songwriters to create a musical series based on that concept.

Well better than what it looks like they are planning anyhow.

Trouble is it has been done in the modern setting sense with limited success and bettered by the recent series about the resistance movement fighting an alien invasion that was at least inspired a little by the novel.

The musical version stuck to the concept but in an entirely new way and it worked.

If you are going to create yet another version on TV it has to be different enough to the ones before to have a chance. As otherwise it is more of the same old alien invasion TV show and they were not terribly good in the first place.

Bummer!! I doubt any other UK broadcaster are going to pick this up. Will have to watch online now S2 was a bit all over the place and the quality dropped massively so I'm not really surprised.

NBC have confirmed they are delaying an episode of Special Victim's unit. The episode is a Donald Trump inspired one and will now air after the election.

They may have to add a few bits in, on a daily basis.

I suppose the Trump-type figure ends up killing someone and they didn't want to give anyone any ideas

My guess is that as the book is out of copyright that they are simply slapping the name on a 'alien invasion' story. I mean the key concepts of War of the Worlds (that there are aliens on Mars and that they would be eventually be defeated by Earth's bacteria) are no longer credible.
