In fact, I’d say the same about all 3 recent Matthew Perry sitcoms. I’d have thought his name alone would have resulted in someone in the UK picking them up. Admittedly ‘Mr Sunshine’ and ‘Go On’ did get cancelled after one (full) season each, but I’d still have thought someone would have taken a chance on them. What surprises me the most of his recent sitcoms is ‘The Odd Couple’ – now in its 3rd season and still no UK broadcaster. I’m amazed no one has picked it up.”

In my defence I'm not a big fan of US comedy, TBBT is about it for me. So it would be extremely presumptions to say how surprised or not that any comedy has not been picked up.

I have tried with most new comedies from the US and every one just depresses me more. So frankly I'm relieved no one has picked up this one or that one, means they might spend the money on sommat decent. Then I remember there isn't a lot that speaks to me these days.

Hamet, i used to be the same. I found a lot of comedy rather poor.At one point. i only ever watched Modern Family. I don't even watch that now. But i have felt US comedy has really improved over the last few years.

Seems to be working for Netflix though. I have enjoyed Daredevil, Jessica Jones and Luke Cage although Luke Cage was the weakest so far but nevertheless all three have received positive reviews from Marvel followers.

Wow you have Netflix? I'd never have guessed

It's never appealed to me, I've tried with so many. I want to enjoy US comedy. I sometimes think I'm missing out, but every time I try one again or even a new one I'm left cold. I squirm more than I laugh.

I like Cheers the only US comedy I have gotten on with, on a long time ago, probably why I like it. I prefer British Comedies and US dramas, tend to watch very little US comedy or British Drama Strangely enough.

Lovely to hear some US network have snapped up the lovely James Norton.

My point? Actually your reply was saying how well Marvel was doing for Netfix! Could be argued that your post was irrelevant to the state of Marvels attempts st ABC, which are far too tied into the S.H.I.E.L.D. franchise, which is pretty clever when the whole thing has virtually no connection to Avengers these days. That takes a heck of a lot of clever writing.

One of the cast members of Midnight Texas has confirmed season 1 will have 10 episodes.

Really looking forward to this. Sadly i think it is on the wrong network and think it would do much better on cable.

McMafia perhaps a joint production with BBC Worldwide and AMC. I wonder if it will be shown on BT's AMC channel when released over here although Matthew Read who is leaving the BBC was heavily involved in BBC One productions especially Happy Valley with James Norton and was part of the team involved in this tie up.

My guess is that it will be on BBC in the UK and AMC in the US. The same thing happened this year with The Night Manager.

I thought that with "Night of" but that was shown on Sky Atlantic.

That's because The Night Of wasn't a co-production and Sky Atlantic have an exclusive deal in which they air all of HBO's shows. So it was never going to air anywhere else.

Your point "Wow you have Netflix? I'd never have guessed" I thought was sarcastic. Yes I have Netflix or rather I opt in and out of Netflix as I do Amazon, Sky and others.

As ABC studios produce Netflix original Marvel series, I thought it was relevant.

Night of was a co production with BBC Drama Productions, BBC Worldwide productions and was adapted from the original BBC series Criminal Justice. There are crossovers however Casual Vacancy was also a BBC-HBO production but shown on the BBC but Sky Atlantic Germany.

Doesn't Atlantic get most HBO (like The Night of ) shows though?

But it stunk, so who cares? The original was far better.

Opinions are subjective, I thought Night Of was better, explored the characters in more depth and I thought John Turturro was brilliant.

It's fairly complex because the distributor may also be HBO and obviously have a tie in with Sky but then as above you get Casual Vacancy another co production with the BBC and HBO shown on the BBC distributed by Sky Atlantic Germany. Not just who produces the shows but who has distribution.

I think the issue with the 'The Odd Couple' is although it is now on its 3rd season, it only had 13 episode seasons. So basically only 1 full season. It also is probably expensive to buy due to the star name. Its never scored major ratings either so has been very up in the air on cancellation. I think uk networks are probably thinking cost/episodes does not add up and its unlikely to be a hit either despite the star name.

I think its quite telling that of all the CBS shows that started in september/october it is the only one that has not been given a full season. Of course it may be that they only wanted to do 13 episodes, but if that was the case why not leave it to mid-season as usual.
