Perhaps littlemonster could help me with demo ratings as I got it completely wrong about the importance of US viewing figures. Bull dropped almost another million viewers this week to 10.8 million but demo has remained stable at 1.50. How far does the demo have to drop before cancellation or second season is considered?

Im not Littlemonster of course but might be able to provide some insight as well

On CBS probably around the 1.2-1.1 range would be a fair line where its down to toss Up range for me anyway with it being a 1st season show

Even then thats about on par with most CBS dramas but airing at 9pm and following NCIS more would be expected then those other dramas which mostly air at 10pm which is always a lower rated hour

CBS isn't known for cleaning house either and with Pure Genius certainly cancelled and Code Black seemingly likely, along with Elementary, that might be all the drama cancellations anyway

Bull would have to seriously collapse from now on to even be in danger and it seems to have found its level, I'll expect 1.5-1.4's from now on, maybe a slight rise in January when shows tend to tick up a bit followed by a drop in the spring again to the 1.3 range

Just on the demo's and im not entirely sure why, but it has been reported that CBS look at the demo for 25-54 more than they do for the 18-49. I think this is because there shows do skew slightly older than some. So in Bull's case yes it is getting 1.5 and it seems to have averaged out at around that for the last few weeks (viewers irrelevant to american market), so seems settled. However for the 25-54 that CBS are looking at its getting 2.2, so unless their is a major collapse or MW does not want to do it, it is almost certain that it will be renewed.

Likewise Fox said last year that they were not concerned about the overnight demo's and that they were looking at live+3 or live+7 i cant remember which, think its the live+3. Of course whether this is true or not is up for debate and we dont know for sure. However looking at what they get for some shows and the fact they renew some lower demo's i would say that it is highly likely to be the case.

Apologies for going of topic but just thought it was relevant to what has been said.

Would say that pretty much guarantees a 2nd season as it is finance boost for them and security.

No need to apologise as I got it completely wrong about the importance of viewing figures in the US. Thankful to others who corrected me and explained why demos are important. You have just expanded how a some broadcasters view demos.

I tead that Viacom have made a deal to air diginet Bounce TV's original series in the UK such as Mann & Wife and Saints and Sinners. Saints and Sinners looks good, seems a bit like Empire. They will probably air on BET http://www.tvnewscheck.com/article/9...-international

I have seen Saints and Sinners. It's awful. It's like one of those really bad soap operas that Tyler Perry keeps producing for Oprah Winfrey's network. Apart from most of the actors being black, the show is nothing like Empire. It's more along the lines of Power but set at a church and if Power had a low budget and was done in an OTT soap opera format.

Actually i would continue. Season 1 is its own story. Everything is wrapped up by the finale. And season 2 is a new story, So personally, stick with season 1 but hold off from season 2 just yet.

So it is now very safe to say Conviction is dead, and Quantico is probably going to join it.

No I'm not still not laughing......

You have to give a bit of credit to ABC in wanting to try and save quantico though. I mean they don't have to move it. They could leave it to rot where it is.

I am intrigued to see how it does.

I don't know about credit. I get the feeling it's more like desperation. Look at recent years. Forever, axed, Conviction, axed, Notorious, axed. If they cut Quantico ABC are going to have had a terrible run of new procedurals. HTGAWM is about their only minor hit or at least non failure. SHIELD would have gone too if not for the Marvel tie in.

I fear they will be looking for a new head again if things continue like this.

OK - Long shot. last year watched US comedy about an English guy in the US ( played by a blonde "made in Chelsea" type male) and a shorter redhead ( with longish hair). It was mainly about their on/off relationship. I think her job was something like advertising or book publishing?

can't think of the name of it, pretty sure it wasn't renewed - anyone any idea what it was called from this scant description?

thanks

That sounds like You're the worst. But that wasn't cancelled if that is the show you are on about.

Normally a sign of looming cancelation, but given that the first two seasons of The Odd Couple were also only 12 and 13 episodes I’m not so sure.
Whatever it means, it’s not exactly a vote of confidence in the programme.
