Fox just announced that they have renewed Sleepy Hollow for season two, but it doesn't look like they are going to go past 13 episodes for this season (no order for a "back nine").
Edit: The USA Today article says the second season order is for 13 episodes, so that could be Fox's plan. To have The Following and Sleepy Hollow alternating in the same slot. |

I thought the 15 episodes of The Following were the reason why Fox couldn't just go for 22 episodes of Sleepy Hollow. In the long run 13 episode seasons of Sleepy Hollow might work better, but Fox will probably hammer it for all it's worth....

Sleepy Hollow sees itself going for at least "7 years of tribulation". I'm sure FOX will be happy about that

The Blacklist has been given a full 22 episode order after getting great ratings for the 1st 2 episodes
And In a Move that shocks no one THE SIMPSONS has been Renewed for a 26th season How long will the Simpsons go? It will surely got to 30 at least now I think |

I think the simpsons will only end if let's say Matt groening or one of the voice cast dies. Plus the ratings are very good. It gets a little more than Family guy

I think 13-15 episodes for The Following and Sleepy Hollow is a good move though, i could see both shows getting extremely repetitive if they were both full 22 episode seasons. Plus, the lower episode count means that both shows will get a pretty much uninterrupted run. |

That's been their plan since Sleepy Hollow was announced i believe. Kevin Bacon's schedule only allows for him to film 15 episodes of The Following each year, so that limits the show to a "half season" length run and Fox needed another 13 episode season show to fill the gap.

That makes three shows on network TV going for a cable model (The Following, Hannibal and Sleepy Hollow). Is it the beginning of the end?

I actually prefer the 13 Episode mode. In shows where you get 20/24 Shows a season half are usually 'filler' where the main storylines are not progressed at all.

Some shows suit 13 episodes and some don't
A show like X files for example wouldn't have worked at 13 episodes because it had a mix of mythology and standalone which were one of the most popular things about the show and it also allows character development and different ways to tells stories But a show like Game of thrones wouldn't work as a 22 episode season, because it would become tiresome and allow the storylines to drag out further then what they shouldn't be Maybe not the best example. |

Teen Wolf has split its season into two distinct arcs after it got a full season and it's working really well. For those shows that don't follow this seemingly new trend it might be the way to go with a long break between to cull those annoying mini hiatus that the US love so much.

Was a bit shocked to read that it was going to be American Dad's final season, but a quick wikipedia search showed me that the 11th season will be airing on TBS.

I don't think it will be long until Betrayal's cancellation is announced.

I don't think even Matt's death would end the show. He's only an executive producer nowadays, not a writer. An actor death though, yeah, they're irreplaceable so that would cause an immediate end. Good job nobody's THAT old.
