She was okay in Austin Powers, but yeah a pretty charmed career, all based on a dress.

Sorry I'm new to all this but what's syndication?

Syndication deals are deals made with cable channels to show repeats of a show. Once a show gets to it's fourth season it reaches 88 episodes which is enough to be repeated on a cycle which makes it more attractive to cable networks to show daily repeats.

I really wish that Ringer would come back. I'm currently re-watching the first & so far only season on the Sky Living It channel on Sunday nights (well Monday mornings really).

That was such a brilliant show. This was back before i started watching shows depending on whether they get a renewal or end on a cliffhanger. Both of which the show did.

But the ratings sucked. Didn't show off Sarah Gellar's acting abilities off well either. She couldn't pull off playing two different characters.

I thought that there wasn't enough difference between the sisters, I mean things like hair-styles as obviously they're identical twins; the the plot had lots of twists & turns and there were interesting characters. I'd love to find out what happens to them.

No news on Parenthood yet. That's the only show we watch at US pace as no UK broadcasters show it unfortunately. Channel 5 had a few of the early seasons but didn't treat it well.

That doesn't suprise me

Seems by this article, the series finale has already been filmed and was filmed knowing it would likely be their last so expect a proper finale to those fans who have followed it.

It will air a one hour finale on April 4th, they have already wrapped filming but the writers wrote this finale with the possibility of it not coming back according to TV Line.

They would of been idiots to have not thought it would be a potential series finale, especially if they had been keeping an eye on the ratings.

In terms of FOX's comedies, it's just Enlisted and Dad currently awaiting their fate now.

I'm fed up of Channel 5 bashing now.

Channel 5 didn't do anything wrong by Parenthood, it just didn't pull the figures, and wasn't going to , so they moved it to daytime.

You don't like Channel 5 bashing? Well, you won't like this! They just cancelled American Idol - just shown this Sunday - without any kind of announcement, and in the middle of this season! How's that for poor treatment?!

5* were contacted today to ask why the episodes (normally on a Saturday and Sunday afternoon) weren't appearing on the next two week's of schedule. They just said it was 'poor viewing figures' - at 5pm on a Saturday afternoon, you shock me! - and that's the whole show entirely gone from the UK channels. Worst thing is, they were already 2 weeks behind the US broadcast. That's a hell of a lot of showtime I now need to try and catch up on to stay in line with the US show. The worst part is my mum, who always watches the show, is now without AI entirely, cos she doesn't do online!

I genuinely don't understand this decision, BTW. Sure, if it had been blocking some primetime slots (as AI once did on ITV2, on Thursday and Friday nights, until they let it go), then the poor viewing figures would be a decent reason to either shift to late night or daytime. But now, the next 2 weeks in these slots have some ancient films, that surely don't garner a fraction of the interest that AI did. If Channel 5 bought the rights to broadcast AI, that money's already spent, right? How is it in their interest to drop a show they're halfway through broadcasting - and, unlike say Helix, can't be shifted to later in the year, cos it's a live reality show. Channel 5 are just the worst. I used to watch so many US shows on their channel. Now, AI has gone, I will literally watch zero hours of channel 5's TV content.

Well i don't think channel 5 have to show programmes that you want to watch...

Clearly it must have been getting viewing figures lower than they would normally get in that time slot, therefore yes it does have low figures and they may lose advertising revenue because of it. So it comes down to the fact they may lose more money by keeping it on air if they can't generate advertising revenue than they lose by ditching it and having already paid for it.

I am sure channel 5 make the decisions that are best for the business model and unfortunately that may not always be the best for you (or your mother).....

I didn't say they were making good decision, and you're welcome to be annoyed, it's just blaming them for show's failure is unfair. Because it's not like they didn't try with Parenthood or American Idol, with the later being promoted quite a bit, and it's not like they're buying shows just to pull them and piss people off...

The big bang theory has been given a three season pick up.
I can't imagine the amount of money CBS earns from this show as a whole. It's a huge ratings winner and is popular around the world, plus it's already in syndication.

I can see Parsons becoming the highest paid actor on TV after this.

SHIELD was a victim of too much hype the minute it was picked up. People psyched themselves too much for it. The pilot wasn't strong at all. However it got better as it went along. Especially around episode 5/6. But a lot of people grew too imaptient for the show to grow, which is fair enough as we each individually have viewing preferences. I have only see the first 10 episodes and I really really enjoyed it and will continue watching the rest once the season is over.

Good news about Big Bang. It's interesting that they've picked it up in blocks like this over the years - I'm sure it was given a two year pickup a few years back. I suspect they learnt their lesson when the cast of 'Friends' negotiated their way up the pay scales for each subsequent renewal.

I actually wouldn't be surprised to see in a year or two that they announce that Season 10 will be the final one though.

Oh yes the ridiculous 1 million per episode for all 6 of them. I don;t care how successful a show is, i find that salary for all of them incredibly silly. Same goes for Charlie Sheen when he did Two and a half men.

I just hope this means they don't get too complacent. This season has been very blah, it feels like they are just going through the motions as they know they are not going to get cancelled.
