Genre/ Sci-Fi/Fantasy tv shows have taken a massive hit,on the 4 major Networks.(Cable also) But with shows like V,The Event,No Ordinary Family,The Cape and Medium all cancelled. Also with the rejection of the Wonder Women Pilot.Does this mean Genre tv shows are less likely to be given a chance,on the Networks ?
All I know is that Terra Nova will be on Fox.There also that new J.J. Abrams show Alcatraz on Fox.But I'm not sure what genre it's going to be ? Does anyone know if there is going to be any new Genre/Sci-Fi/Fantasy type shows, this september on the Networks ? Or is it all now down to the Cable channels taking a risk on these types of shows ? The Americanised Torchwood is still to come. Struggling after that! |

In addition to those two, ABC has fantasy series Once Upon A Time, NBC has fantasy series Grimm, and NBC has a show that will be either science fiction of fantasy called Awake. And though The CW network hasn't announced their schedule yet, the media thinks The CW is sure to order The Secret Circle, a fantasy series. So, in sum, the answer to your question is yes, there will be new "genre" series on US network TV in the fall -- about six of them, in fact. And that is the same number of network genre series that have ended/are ending, six (Smallville, V, No Ordinary Family, The Event, The Cape, Medium). I can understand people getting angry/upset when a particular show they like ends, but I never understand fans of TV sci-fi/fantasy in general fearing that the end is nigh for those types of shows. New one always come along to replace the old. |

NBC has released its primetime schedule. As I had expected, Chuck is moved to Friday. That fills me with some hope that it'll get another 9 episodes to see it through to 100.
http://tvbythenumbers.zap2it.com/201...nounced/92597/ Looks like 30 Rock may be a late starter? Disappointed that Community is still in that 8pm slot, I hope The Big Bang Theory gets moved back to its old slot. |

Seems that Shit my Dad says has gone as well which is really disappointing as i've been loving it. After a slow start I think it's definitely picked up and some of the laughs have been great.

dang. this last week has been brutal for my viewing habits. lost five shows i've been watching regularly.i would have tried chicago code but that's out of the window. at least eureka, supernatural, californication & csi miami are all coming up - i'm quite happy now that I gave up on US Pace shows a few years ago now. |

http://www.deadline.com/2011/05/nbc-...time-schedule/
Looking at the NBC Primetime scheduled as published (although it is still subject to change, and will probably change once the new season kicks off and results or lack of start coming in) , it is interesting but expected to see Chuck in th Friday 8pm slot. NBC has confirmed this will be the FINAL season, so it is understandable that it has been moved to the quieter night of friday - they don't expect the shwo to pick up new viewers but know the show's hardcore fan base will follow to Friday night especially with the announcement of the final season. Surprised ion part at the Friday 9pm scheduling of new genre series GRIMM. Surprised because a new show to take off from start in Friday night is pretty tough. Its pairing with Chuck could work, considering GRIMM has the potential to create a "CULT" fan base as with most genre shows. It could inherit Chuck's audience - although different thematics, the two shows have the same type of viewer target "Cult" viewers. But considering Chuck's wimpy performance right through its entire run, it won't be allowing GRIMM to inherit that many potential viewers. Nonetheless, itll be inetresting from a viewer perspective to see how that works. Also, Chuck will probably receive a 12-13 episode order, but I cant see it getting a back nine. NBC only lists TWO scripted series for mid season along with their proposed slots (not fridays) but other projects are still awaiting slot confirmations and they will potentially take over the Chuck Friday slot. . From the rest of the NBC line-up , I will continue to watch Community which continues to rank amongst my favourite sitcoms - but I see they again have been allocated the tough Thursday night slot. Im also curious about period drama THE PLAYBOY CLUB and will give that a try. The US remake of PRIME SUSPECT also has my attention, as does new genre series AWAKE which is yet to be confirmed a slot (at mid season probably), but which I can definitely see as Chuck's replacement on Fridays from mid season, which at the same time doesn't fill me with hope of the show's survival, even though its pairing with GRIMM could work, alveit work better in another night! The rest of the NBC schedule doesn't really appeal to me. Can't find any sitcom which stands out - they all sound same old same old, and the TV adaptation of THE FIRM sounds like the standard procedural trying to be different by using a well known brand as is The Firm. Also, the TV adaptation of THE FIRM has been trying out every pilot season for as long as I remember, so I can't see it running past one season! Again, as has been the case the past few years, to me, the NBC schedule seems to lack UMPH! There are a few good sounding shows in there, but even then, the two that sound interesting / different have been allocated Friday nights. Also, I have a dread that AWAKE might turn out to be next year's FlashForward and The Event! |

Bad news. Even the Star Wars TV show is on hold as they try to think up a workable story line.
The Americanised Torchwood is still to come. Struggling after that! http://www.tnt.tv/series/fallingskies/ |

Isn't there a new tv show about aliens invading and a group of survivors fighting back. Spielberg is involved I think.

After viewing the season finale of CS:NY it is my opinion that 'Mac has left the building'.
![]() The only other show that I am particularly fussed about is Blue Bloods. It's had it's faults, especially the twee family scenes but with a little tweaking it could have a future. As for The Event, I'm pleased it has been put out of its misery. |

I think they're going to struggle a bit of Season 5 as it is, but at least they can plan for a proper ending. |

Uncomfirmed (but fairly reliable) reports coming in that Hawaii Five-0 and Blue Bloods will get renewal annoncements imminently. I'd say that the renewal of Blue Bloods is a bad sign for CSI: New York's chances.

It's a shame about The Defenders. It was easily the best new legal show of the year, and it offered a good mix of comedy and drama. It wasn't Boston Legal, but Belushi and O'Connell offered a terrific pairing. The cancellation was inevitable given the ratings, but it was actually a really good show.
I'm glad Blue Bloods is on the way back. Presumably CBS think they can retool it a bit, and I'd imagine that Tom Selleck gets on quite well with them, given that they already work together on the Jesse Stone TVMs. I don't think the show is particularly special - good, not great - but I am a big Tom Selleck fan. |

Good news about Hawaii Five-O if it turns out to be true. If Blue Bloods does get picked up again then I'll have to start watching that - I liked the look of the trailer but it was about 2 episodes in before I got Sky re-installed again
