Death Valley is being shopped to other networks, two years after it's cancellation.

Fox seem to be reversing a bunch of decisions that Kevin Reilly made before he got booted. I suspect this is part of their 'new world order' of sweeping changes. Hieroglyph was one of the shows that was ordered direct to series. They made the first episode, and Fox have pulled the plug. I would think that's because the contracts allowed them to do so only after a minimum of one episode had been filmed. I did think it was a mid-season show, though. Most of the fall premieres are probably safe, until broadcast, and then Fox will go back in with any broom sweeping necessary - if they have alternative shows to fill the gaps, which I'm not sure they do have so much.

I think one or two of the mid-season shows will be brought forward, if other stuff is underperforming. I still think Utopia has potential ratings disaster written all over it, so I'm waiting to see what they do with that one. It's taking up a whole bunch of the schedule in the autumn. BTW, there's stuff going round that, not only is Glee being held until mid-season, and has only a 10-13 episode order for their final season, but also they're not even starting to film until late August at the very earliest. I'll be interested to see if any news comes out about that show soon - especially around cast retentions (Naya Rivera is doubtful to return in any regular capacity, at this point).

Bit annoyed FOX axed it to be honest. It looked good. I love egyptian mythology

FOX have a habit of cancelling shows before they have even made it to air. Look at the US Gavin and stacey. There are 6/7 episodes of that on a shelf somewhere and FOX decided on behalf of the viewing public before anyone can see it that it wasn't worth continuing or even worth being seen.

So the US are remaking Ch4's Utopia. Hmmmm. Apparently HBO have bought the rights and it's going to be executive produced and directed by David Fincher. Well the pilot will be, not sure about the rest of the episodes.

HBO is remaking the Channel 4 drama Utopia, though nobody knows when that will happen. The "Utopia" referenced in this thread is a Fox reality/competition show that is coming in the new season.

A reality show called Utopia? I thought it was a reference to the Ch4 show. Oh well, the US remake of UK Utopia will appear at some point in the near future.

Yeah it's slightly confusing. The HBO remake will probably be extremely good - the original version was excellent, and you can't go too far wrong if David Fincher is involved. The Fox show is derived from a Dutch 'social experiment' reality show that sounds godawful! In the absence of Fox's talent show filling their autumn schedule, since they cancelled the poor performing X Factor USA, they've given Utopia a lot of their broadcast time. I'll be extremely surprised if this turns out to be a hit.

Why? Awful show, I made it through one episode, that was enough for me.

In a documentary context the idea of seeing how people build their own society from scratch in an undeveloped location could be interesting, as an American reality show staged, faked and otherwise scripted to the hilt, no thanks...

They made it abundantly clear they weren't happy with last years Goodwin Games, and that it was highly likely to be cancelled before proceeding to air the show anyway...

There's a bit in the statement that I think has been overlooked by many. It's just two words ".. and beyond". They aren't just picking this up to get the 6 seasons, it looks like they are looking at multiple series

I can't see Community going any beyond the one season Yahoo have given

Community's plan was always meant to be 6 seasons and then end.

I've just watched the first episode of Matador, truly mind numbingly awful.

The Knick has been renewed for a second season, ahead of it's first season
The show airs on Cinemax and stars Clive Owen

Couldn't agree more.... I am not sure how they are marketing the show, if it's meant to be tongue in cheek or serious.... but I found it just stupid and totally unbelievable

That explains why I had never heard of it then!

Cinemax are really starting to move away from soft porn and into original content, albeit with an adult theme. Strike Back (as US/UK co-production) and Banshee have been very successful for them. Lets not mention Hunted (the BBC coproduction).

As its owned by HBO I expect The Knick will turn up on Sky Atlantic in the UK.
