NBC have cancelled Emerald City before the series can even move into production. The show was due for a midseason premiere next year.

That is a surprise, they were pushing it at comic con recently. I wonder what happened, budget issues?

From the rumor mill, NBC think the show just wouldn't work at all.

You would think they would have realised that before giving it a series commitment

Longmire has been cancelled after three seasons. It is already being shopped to other networks.

Halfway through season 3 now. Didn't expect that

I think this might be the end for Longmire, it's not especially acclaimed or buzzy and it doesn't have a rabid fan base, so unless Warner Bros. can make it cheaper I don't see what the appeal will be for another network...

I mean Community is known to have massive on set issues and go overbudget quite frequently (but from the sounds of it never problematically so), but it has a cult fanbase and is somewhat buzzy, which is why Yahoo went after it. They wanted publicity, rather than money, and I don't think any prospective buyer (except maybe Netflix) will be able to find either from Longmire...

The show delivers high ratings though, even higher than Bates Motel. So i am shocked it has been cancelled.

The story is that A&E killed it because it's owned by Warner Bros. and they want to own all their content. But I'm not sure I buy that...

I am not sure I would buy it either. They don't have many original scripted shows. Those who kill flopped. Bates Motel has a third season being filmed and now they have cancelled their remaining original scripted show which delivers fantastic ratings.

Bates Motel is part of the reason I don't buy it. Why would they renew a Universal series then kill off a more successful Warner Bros. series, because they don't own it? I wonder if there are cost issues or something else afoot...

Longmire was not more successful than Bates Motel. Far from it. Unlike the UK, in the US, for channels with ads, total viewers is irrelevant. Only ratings in the 18-49 demo matter, because ad fees are tied to that rating. Bates Motel gets a 1.0 in that demo. Longmire dropped down to 0.5 this past season, making Longmire, if you will, half as successful as Bates Motel.

I know that, nobody gave the demo figures. All the US sites were acting as if Longmire was massively successful, but a 0.5 isn't that good...

Another network better pick it up. Especially after the cliff-hanger they left it at....

Shocking decision. Wasn't aware that the ratings were that bad..

Will be crossing everything that another network picks it up.
