The show delivered good ratings but did poorly in it's demos. It's cancellation is hardly shocking. I guess CBS had to choose between this and Extant. Considering how well Extant managed to do in other countries, it was a no brainer why they went ahead with Extant then Unforgettable.
But if it makes you feel better, it doesn't end on a cliffhanger.
