Extant has been renewed as well, which is a shock, considering how poorly it did to be honest in the ratings and demos.

Same here, as silly as it is. They really need to be looking towards bringing it to a close though. They can't really drag it out much longer.
Dome and Extant have been profitable for CBS due to the deal with Amazon and international sales. The model must work for CBS since they've ordered another summer series but with Netflix as streaming partner

I wouldn't be surprised if CBS uses the model they've used for Dome, Extant and Zoo to bring back Star Trek to television. With the 50th anniversary in two years and a new film coming around the same time, it would be the best time due to interest in the franchise

The suggestions I've heard is that CBS owned Showtime may be interested. Seeing as they revived Twin Peaks it's not beyond the realm of possibility, but it seems unlikely to me...

Star Trek isn't Showtime material, I think even The CW would be a push. It would have to be CBS with Amazon/Netflix streaming, it's too valuable a franchise for them
How to Get Away with Murder and Black-ish have been picked for 15 and 22 episodes. Wonder what ABC will replace Murder with, my guess would be American Crime since that has big names before behind the camera and on camera or Secrets and Lies.

Given the fan base and name recognition you would think that Star Trek is a shoe-in for a come back. But then i'm sure the films are making a bucket load of money and they might not want to risk damaging the brand at the moment.
The CW would ruin Star trek.
Showtime wouldn't be such a random place for the show to air on. I think people forget that back in the 90's, that channel aired a lot of sci-fi shows. Most notably, it was the original home for Stargate SG1 for the first five seasons.

Can't believe unforgettable has been cancelled again even though it had more success than when it was cancelled the first time. Hopefully it wouldn't end on a cliffhanger.

Back then Showtime was very different than it is now. They used to do series that were just like network shows in tone and feel but with added nudity and swearing. They got rid of Stargate and The Outer Limits precisely when they decided they wanted to change direction. Now Showtime is more like HBO, producing shows that are intended to be "Emmy bait" that the critics will like. A new Star Trek could not be further away from what they want.

The show delivered good ratings but did poorly in it's demos. It's cancellation is hardly shocking. I guess CBS had to choose between this and Extant. Considering how well Extant managed to do in other countries, it was a no brainer why they went ahead with Extant then Unforgettable.
But if it makes you feel better, it doesn't end on a cliffhanger.

Also, CBS owns Extant, they don't own Unforgettable, it's in their interests to preserve Extant for as long as it makes a profit.
Neither BBC America nor Space could afford it, Syfy probably couldn't but is owned by NBCUni, so wouldn't be suitable anyway.
