I'm guessing this has something to do with TNT's re-imaging and wanting more 'edgy' dramas on their schedule. I think thats why the likes of Perception and Franklin and Bash weren't renewed this year.

As regards Perception, I wasn't a fan but know a few who were gutted when it was canned.

I meant at DC's end of things, rather than the show. Will DC be willing to merchandise the show or do tie-ins or let them use certain characters if they think it will affect the films?

That's the problem with DC current situation though and why it makes no sense to have a TV show and film about The Flash going at the same time

Especially as they are doing no other films based on their other TV characters like Arrow or Constantine

Also it doesn't seem like DC are planning to drop their TV plans either as they are moving ahead with the Supergirl TV show and if rumours are to be believed then that will cross over with Arrow and The Flash

It's why the only thing that makes sense would be if DC went down the route of multiple universes that are seperate but run at the same time!

I don't see that as a problem. TV and film are different mediums, they don't need to be married to one another.

But if DC starting controlling the TV series to protect the film, as they likely will do, then it will become a problem...

I didn't mean that they need to married to each other but we have yet to have a comic book TV show and film running at the same time which I see as a problem as why would fans of the Flash TV show go to see a film when they already associate the TV show with that character

However DC may stop the TV show after a few seasons before the film comes out to avoid confusion among the general public

The Flash film is scheduled for 2018. Theoretically if they produce 23 episodes of The Flash a year, they could reach syndication numbers before March 2018. The question is whether the CW will be willing to give up one of it's highest rating shows for almost no reason...

That is a possibility. But I still don't view them as one of the same. They can exist simultaneously, within their own continuity.

Film is the greater medium (yes, giving your point more credence) but I don't think the audiences are the same. Not everyone who is a fan of tv Flash will automatically jump to a film version and vice versa. Also, luckily, they can use a different incarnation of the Flash, to make it more distinctive.

I think Geoff Johns, the creative officer of DC Entertainment has said the DC TV series will be essentially be in their own universes so you wouldn't see Gotham crossing over with Arrow or Flash which makes sense because I think as we've seen with Agents of SHIELD, having to be part of the MCU means they are restricted to what goes on in the films whereas Gotham, Arrow, Flash etc can develop at their own pace. It'll be interesting if the Marvel Netflix shows takeoff because I could see Warner Bros developing similar shows for Netflix or Amazon based on more obscure DC titles like The Question.

Even the Ashton episodes were decent at times, Jon Cryer though really has gone too annoying with his character so i won't miss that

Gracepoint got cancelled. Hardly a shocker. Being against Scandal and it's lack of innovation probably killed it.

I think another reason it flopped as there are too many shows on tv like it

True Detective, Rogue, Murder In The First and Fargo. Plus the upcoming Secrets & Lies, American Crime and Wayward Pines. All are shows dealing with one crime occurring and spending 10 or so episodes investigating it. It's becoming a new trend. Eventually one of them wouldn't appeal well to the viewing public.

Which is rather ironic given the show which started the trend Murder One only lasted two series (and abandoned the format in the second).

Like Profit, Murder One (with original format) was written way before its time. Two great shows prematurely ended IMO

But How to get away with Murder isn't just about one crime though, there are different ones in each episode. But there is one main arc going on. Plus various storylines going on with the cast. I wouldn't put How To Get Away With Murder in the category of those shows I mentioned.

According to TVBTN, The CW has three teetering on the edge, The 100 (29 episodes), Jane the Virgin (23/4 episodes) and Reign (44 episodes). Which do we think are likely to be renewed and cancelled?

TVBTN thinks Reign might be saved because it's closer to syndication, but it has the worst ratings of the three. I think The 100 and Jane might be saved, with Reign going...

'The 100' will be cancelled of the three. It's likely the most expensive and niche show. But 'Jane The Virgin' could easily be scrapped, considering it's just into its first season.
