I doubt it will win but the nominations alone can save it for being cancelled. No CW show has never got nominated for any major awards.

That completely ignores the fact awards don't equal money, especially amongst The CW's target demographic. But it could give it a boost, if there's two similarly positioned shows at the end of the year.

I never said it does ignore the fact. Awards can only take a show so far if the ratings are poor. I think Jane has a better shot at renewal than Reign. Plus we need to see how iZombie and The Messengers does.

Didn't even know it was in trouble.

Shame they can't give it a proper ending, but the show had definitely declined.

I didn't know it was in trouble either - actually just finished Season 5 before christmas as well. It was certainly set up for somewhat of a 'reboot' I suppose.

While it's not a complete cliffhanger ending, it's certainly an ending that needs a resolution i think.

Urgh how annoying, but it's ratings haven't been as good since about season 3/season 4 so apart of me isn't surprised. Such a shame, as for me, it was a show that got better each season. Although later seasons divided opinion.

Not surprised I gave up on it last season I though it'd gone downhill

Apparently the trouble with Covert Affairs was that despite acceptable overall ratings, it was skewed abysmally against live viewers, and unfortunately they don't make any money from DVR watchers...

Im surprised but pleased to hear this after its critical mauling.

Im assuming there are plans for a DVD boxset for this series?

Should be, anything from 6-18 months after it's Netflix première (House of Cards took 6 months, Arrested Development took 12 months in the UK, and a few more in the US). But it's distributed by The Weinstein Company who don't have a set distributor in the UK, so it may or may not be released in the UK...

US advertisers DO pay for DVR viewers, as long as they watch within 3 days of the live broadcast. TV channels want advertisers to pay for DVR viewers within 7 days of broadcast, but so far advertisers have resisted.

I wouldn't call it acceptable ratings. It was actually one of the networks lowest rated shows. That and Graceland. Plus add the fact it is expensive as it films in different countries. It shed it's audience every season since the third season. I wish USA had announced that season 5 was the final season anyway or at least cancel it while it was still filming to give time for an acceptable finale. The one we were dealt with is far from it.

I read it on a blog, maybe TVLine that the viewing figures were sort of acceptable.

Hopefully they give Suits advance warning, for it's final season. Figures have been slipping this year, but it has been renewed, which is good...

Thanks for the information-I have a multi region dvd player so I should be ok even if its not released in the UK.

Just in: The CW renews ARROW (which will enter Season 4), JANE THE VIRGIN (Season 2), REIGN (Season 3), SUPERNATURAL (Season 11), THE 100 (Season 3), THE FLASH (Season 2), THE ORIGINALS (Season 3), and THE VAMPIRE DIARIES (Season 7).

That's sort of good news about the CW shows. Very pleased Arrow is getting a 4th season, and happy about the 100 as well, even though I haven't started Season 2 yet but Supernatural .. again ?

I know it's the highest rated show on the channel, but how much further can they stretch the plot ?

Everyone has died and been resurrected, they've saved the world countless times. The only way I can see them doing something different is to maybe do a big reset.

Official confirmation here ..

I'm surprised that both Reign and Jane the Virgin have been renewed! The 100 also. I may start watching it.

Wow massive renewal never seen that before. I'm so happy the 100, arrow, flash, vampire diaries and originals are my fav shows.

The 100 is prob my fav show, and it looked on the bubble so I'm so happy.

Jane the Virgin is no surprise it got the network it's first Emmy nomination. And I guess reign is very close to syndication hence it's renewal. It doesn't air over here surprisingly.

It has two golden globe nominations, not an emmy nomination

reign is also not close to syndication. it need another two seasons to reach that

I am shocked about reign's renewal more than anything and it seems Supernatural will become one of the longest running american sci-fi shows of all time then with an 11th season, which means it has now beaten Smallville and Stargate.
