See there is an interview with S.M. in which he complains about fans putting spoilers on the net. He wishes they would watch someone elses programme if they are going to do that, so watch out all you spoilerers (?) he's after you !

Quite rightly so. When you put so much time into hiding things for a greater purpose only to have someone do a lengthy report on it...

...even more annoying to stumble upon without warning,

Ah big deal. Grumpy old get. He lives and works in 2011, the era of the leaks, the spoilers and the internet forum. Get over it. Or don't invite the public to a screening!!

If i had done this I wouldn't have any problem admitting it to him. Nothing illegal about it, he only asked people not to spoil.

Personally I also find his attitude to be awful on most things. There is just something about his attitude and his voice that I simply hate. Which is weird because I love his work. But in interviews he just comes across so badly.

Pretty funny of him to complain after that Today Show report that contained multiple Spoilers for Episode 13.

It's his own fault, he holds a private press screening then moans when things are leaked from it, if you dont want anything to be known, then dont hold the press screening Mr Moffat.

I can understand why he is annoyed all this work and he does something for the fans only for 1 of them to spoil it

I know what you meant about him somethimes in interviewshe can come across as grumpy but i just think that his manner in interviews he is very passionate about his work but i dont think he interviews well

He even looks like he has an attitude problem, or over smugness on Confidential.

And, for some fans including me, spoilers are fantastic. He chooses to watch things spoiler free because it makes the story better, fair enough. Don't force it on me. If I find out then I find out, I personally prefer to know every little detail before I watch it. Always have.

He come across as quick a grumpy old fart in that interview. I understand he might have wanted things to stay secret, but come on, he allowed the screenings. He should realise that this would have happened. He went a bit OTT saying the person who released spoilers shouldn't watch DW again too.

Seems one of the other Dr Who forums are going Spoiler free because of this

Agree with you and Moffat on this one. We might live in this modern society, however, I wish people did have a sense of honour and responsibility. If you are invited to a private screening and you are asked not to spoiler it for other people, why can't you do it?

By the way, I quite like Moffat's interviews and his voice

Well, they weren't exactly THE ENTIRE PLOT OF A TWO-PARTER. And they were authorised too.

Moffat's rage is understandable, really. I'd be irritated if someone scuppered people's enjoyment of the episode over the internet when I had personally told them not to.

I agreee, who is he to dictate who should and should not watch, he does not own the series, he is looking after it for a short while, it is not his baby.

Perhaps next year of he is in charge still, he should abstain from the press screenings.

It's a matter of principle. People at the screening were asked to keep a confidence and the majority complied with this, but one selfish idiot chose to ignore it.

The irony is that the press, which usually gets often gets unfairly criticsed and demonised in fan forums, respected his request, but the only one who didn't was one of our, own, a "fan".

It's usual for the odd bit of info to leak out, but for an entire plot to be revealed is not acceptable IMO. I'm not surprised Steven Moffat is so angry about this and wouldn't be surprised if fans are not allowed into future preview screenings.

Discussing things in a spolier section is one thing, but to wilfully spread them elsewhere with the intent of spoiling things for others is not on.

I hope the people who'd get on their High Horses whenever RTD made even a slightly disparaging about any section of Fandom will show the same outrage here.

Moffat comes across as a miserable person whenever he's being interviewed and is a failure at being the Ambassador for the series that the Showrunner has to be these days.

Seriously? Currently IT IS his baby.

I suspect there will fewer public viewing in future.

Nice.
Of course the clue for what's being done is in the name "spoiler".
It may not be illegal but its of questionable morality.
And I imagine you'd get your wish to never be invited to a private screening. The problem is that the majority of people who abide by his wish that they not post spoilers would also suffer but hey, so what, you're alright aren't you?

No one is forced to read the spoilers though, they are there if people want to reads, and if they dont they can avoid them.

I think he has gone a little over the top with his reaction .

They are called spoilers for a reason. They spoil the show. How anyone can call themselves a fan of the show yet deliberately hamper their own enjoyment is beyond me.

I understand and accept that some people love spoilers. I just personally don't understand it and never will. I'd rather get as much enjoyment out of the show as possible and that simply means not reading spoilers. Simple

He does have a mighty voice I especially liked the way he said "and we're gonna write off Big Ben.... again" in the S05E01 feature.

Some of you speak as though Moffat isn't allowed to keep his secrets, secret. Private screenings are also called private for a reason - it's a case of misplacing your trust in people.

It should have been marked spoilers, and up to the individual whether they wanted to see it or not.

When rose came back they edited her out of the first episode, perhaps they should have done this with the little girl twist at the end?

Because it doesn't hamper their enjoyment.

Just because you (or Moffat or anyone else) feel one way about something doesn't mean everybody has to do the same.

That''d I'd rather have a showrunner with a positive attitude then a negative one. What a radical concept!

Firstly I never said anybody else has to feel the same as I do. In fact I believe I said quite the opposite in the bit you chose not to quote.

I understand that some believe they enjoy the story more by knowing spoilers. But experienced writers plot a story a certain way, with twists and turns carefully inserted at the right moment, dialogue carefully worded to mean certain things or throw the audience off-guard, plot developments happening at just the right time. It isn't all just thrown together randomly and they don't put so much time and planning into it for the good of their health. They are experienced writers and they know the best way to create a story that will have the best impact on the audience. It will not have the desired effect on those who have read spoilers. If they say they enjoy the episode better that way, fair enough. But they are coming at it from an entirely different angle than the way it was intended to be viewed and therefore its very difficult for me to believe they can enjoy it more than they would if they didn't read spoilers.

Add to this the fact that I myself use to read spoilers a few years ago and then stopped, and my enjoyment level increased dramatically, then I strongly stand by my opinion.

But on no level am I telling others what they should or shouldn't be doing. Just making a strong recommendation.

And rambling a bit
