Doctor Who Q&A: A chat with Suranne Jones
Andy Joannou
11-05-2011
Have to say like with with most things this series, I'm very excited to see Suranne Jones - I've loved her in pretty much everything she has been in (CS, Five Days, SJA, probably DW...). Anyone else excited to see her back on our tv screens?

"An old character with a new face"? Perhaps this is linked to Gaiman's other interview which states that Idris dies before the opening credits, I wonder if we'll recognise this old character before they become Suranne? If that's what happens. So many questions! Can't wait

I hadn't watched that video yet, but having now watched it i'm even more confused!

Spoiler
Based on the written interview I was pretty certain she was the TARDS, as i said above. However, that video casts doubt in my mind again!

She isn't actually asked if she's the embodiment of the TARDIS. She's asked if she's linked to the TARDS. Her nod / shake of head is more a "I can't say" response, I think. However, she does go on to indicate that there isn't a clear yes or no answer to that when she says "Is she linked to the TARDIS? I don't know. I don't know if that's quite right!"

So colour me confused again!

Here's a random idea though:

- We know that she plays a familiar 'character' with a new face.

- There are strong suggestions that she's linked to the TARDIS but it's not quite as clear cut as her being the TARDIS itself.

- There are strong suggestions that she plays an inanimate object that has taken on humanoid form as she has to get used to this new form.

So, here's my new random idea - She's the embodiment of time and space itself!
