Schedule+Red on Humax
Hi,
I've programmed my Harmony remote to send Schedule plus Red instead of Guide on my Humax to make it snappier. All works fine but I'm just wondering when (how often) the actual EPG is refreshed if you do this. Aren't you in danger of having an out of date EPG at some stage? Is the only time it does a refresh during it's nighly housekeeping duties? Thanks in advance. |

You don't need to worry epg data is also carried on the broadcast data so the epg is in effect continously trickle charged. You can see this actually happen by doing a reset and pressing schedule/red. At this point the guide is incomplete, go back in a hour or so the next few days will be there (which is all that matters for recording).
The only time I ever press guide is after a reset just to populate the full epg quickly. Never had a problen from missing data. |

It is one of those changes in habits that the Foxsat-HDR forced on my family and me from previously having PVRs that were left on all the time. Edit: Sorry, just to clarify, pressing 'Guide' seems to do some additional interim house keeping that you bypass if you press Schedule+Red and hence the nightly house keeping becomes more important. |
