Doctor Who Fan Fiction - Admit what you've done...

I'm guessing a good 20% of you have written fan fiction for Dr Who at sometime. Spill the beans, what have you done?

I'll go first: When I was 10 (in 1993) a friend and I wrote "The Alliance of Evil". Ignorant to the New Adventures (No DWM in our village) we wrote Seven's regeneration into Eight (an old, wise Teenager...so plenty of you Smith-haters would probably have a heart attack if it happened). The Dalek Emperor and his Dalek Squire would be leading the invasion of Telos to manipulate Cyber-Technology, The Thals would be in league with the Movellans to defeat the Daleks and Jo Grant would be strapped to a time-travelling bomb (and why not?). Of course, we were chuffed three years later to find that we had predicted how Seven's departure would start (gunshot wound) but were disappointed to find they hadn't used our suggestion of the 'bullet of infinity' (don't ask).

When I was 22, I stuck to a more sensible idea. A council housing estate about to be demolished, but delayed until squatters had been evicted. The City Rangers didn't have to do much through, since a malfunctioning army of Cybermen were picking off the Squatters one by one for conversion purposes...

When I was 12 1981, I wrote a story with the villain being called Sorvad...you can see where I'm going with this!

I feel really nerdy admitting it but I've had a four season plot arc in my head that has slowly been building up over the years!

Although I've only really watched the New Series most of my FanFics involve at least one or two old characters. Mostly the Brig.

My main story arc would be that the main character is actually the Doctor and River's son who was placed in an orphanage to stop their timelines crossing. It would all culminate with the 50 year anniversary where the Doctor would sacrafice himself to save his son who ended up trapped on Gallifrey. By killing himself he brings back the Time Lords. Everyone would think he had died forever of course and then a sneaky epilogue has him regenerating and running in the TARDIS.

I don't like to use the Daleks much though. I save them up because they feel too overused to me. It's normally a lone Dalek too just to show how powerful they are.

*I also have space pirates. Lots of space pirates. My idea before they were used in Series 6!

I wrote an entire bloody script in 2003 or so, and send it in to the BBC asking them to use it to restart the show. They sent me a lovely letter back telling me they were in discussions with some of the country's best writers to write the new Who.

My disappointment with my script being rejected was more than made up for with proper confirmation that Doctor Who was returning.

Ok, now I'm not holding my one year old, I can elaborate.

I almost wrote to compain about theft of intellectual property after Revelation of the Daleks.

My story was set on Earth in the future and had a mysterious never seen scientist (you know, looking over back of shoulder seeing their gloved hand looking at a screen etc) only known as Prof Sorvad, was purporting to be developing a new non fossil fuel or powersource for the Earth following the near exhaustion of Earths supply (I had no doubt recently done fossil fuels t school!). In reality, the scientist was using human tissue to make new Daleks. In my mind, it wasn't going to be an obvious Dalek story (ie no Dalek in title) and the reveal would not occur until the end of part 3 of 4. The plan was that this would be a sort of ReGenesis of the Daleks.

This was before Resurrection of the Daleks, when a Dalek story was quite a rare thing.

Oh this takes me back! In 1973(ish), at school I used to do Dr Who cartoon strips in a spare excercise book. This went on for years.....I ended up doing Jon Pertwee and Tom Baker ones at school (about five books in the end...and I gave them all away to my friends at the end of term). Due to popular demand - I continued a few Peter Davison strips in another book......it was just a bit of fun - but, looking back, I wish I'd kept them now! (I'm 50 now!!!)
(Thinking back, one of my cartoon stories was Dr Who & Leela in 1999......which involved them meeting the crew of Moonbase Alpha)

Ok I'll admit it. I've got two scripts on the go. One, big cats and weird science the other set in a Scottish harbour village in the time of shawls.

"When angels fell from heaven, some fell on the land,
and they became the fairies.
Some fell on the sea, and they became... the SELKIE."

All star cast, Benedict Cumberbatch, Billy Connolly, Amy McDonald, Richard Wilson, Susan Boyle.

Ken Stott wants more money but Nic Briggs and Steven Moffat will cameo.

Never wrote a story as such but I used to draw comics with a friend and we drew a Superman versus Daleks comic strip. I think we were about 8 or 9 - late 1960s - and were really "into" superheroes, Doctor Who and Star Trek at the time so we used to draw a lot of comics where they all met up.

I never actually wrote it down, but my honest to god daydream of a couple of years ago ran like this:

A new Doctor (11 generation onwards) is companionless at the start of a series, and goes to investigate an empty orphanage abandoned on Earth, where weird aliens are guarding and manipulating some creepy nuns into guarding a solitary girl brought to them years ago. She's in her late teens/ early twenties, but is weirdly still being guarded. After some Doctor stylee rescuing, he takes her on as a companion and they go through some adventure throughout the series.

For the finale, the girl is kidnapped, and while the Doctor tries to rescue her, he finds out she's a fobwatched timelady. While he rescues her from the aliens (never decided on them, but they basically wanted to lure him and steal their timelordy tech), she gets defobwatched and is revealed to be Jenny, who was fatally wounded by the aliens just after she left Doctor 10. As she was only technically young, she regenerated into a baby girl, then was hidden in the orphanage by the same aliens at the beginning to protect her from the bad aliens.

I would like to feel smug about the following points

1) Mystery timelady
2) Humans protecting a child in an empty orphanage
3) Aliens behind said orphanage

Presumably Daleks with a lisp - were they the predecessors of the bitchy Daleks in Doomsday?

Back in 2006 I wrote 13 mini stories, with a series arc. Sally Pollard was the companion and it was set after Series 2, so just after the departure of Rose.

I can't remember it all off the top of my head, but there was an episode called The Ark (which was a coincidence as I had never heard of the First Doctor story at the time) in which The Doctor and Sally visited the far future where the Earth had been abandoned due to mass-pollution.
There was also a 2-parter called Attack of the Wronax and The Monster of the Box which involved The Doctor giving up his TARDIS to an alien race called the Wronax (they look a bit Sycorax but taller with black robes) and them rewriting time. The episodes also featured zombies in a foggy London suburb, and the latter half saw The Doctor having to fight a rogue TARDIS...in actual fact, it was a virus the TARDIS had caught in the Moon Reefs of Archaplaeto 2 that had drawn attention to them in the first place.
There was a historical episode called The Seventh in which the TARDIS crew met Henry VIII, who seemed to have outlived Catherine Parr and was marrying a seventh wife. Brian Blessed was to play Henry VIII in my vision. The story revolves around the idea of "Henry" being an alien imposter, when in truth it turns out that the Henry that had died was an alien imposter, and the real story got convoluted and lost over time.
There was a two-parter set on a very early Earth entitled 'The Faceless' and 'The Allseeing Eye', which was considered to be before life even existed. But clear as day is a human base, with people that have no concept of birth and consider themselves to have been researchers for their entire existence. They share their base with The Faceless... pure black liquid humanoid forms that serve them and patrol the surface of the Earth. The mystery being who is giving them instructions, who is controlling the humans that have found themselves here, and what is the dark star that is staring down on them all every single day of their lives?

I'll stop there, I used to write too much

I've never written any proper fanfiction, but I did write a short torchwood story after children of earth. Gwyn, Rhys and their son Jack went to a memorial where Gwyn was mourning an "Ianto". The idea was that you were meant to think it was a memorial to those who died during children of earth, but at the end you found out it was actually a memorial to the baby she was pregnant with in COE, who was named after Ianto Jones.

It seems quite morbid looking back on it now!

I didn't write anything properly, but I wrote a 5th series back in 2008, with a rough summary for each episode. It had a new Doctor travelling with a male and female (a couple). IIRC, the finale involved all of the Doctor's enemies and companions returning to help him. Something happened and the enemies/companions were scattered in time and space, with their fates unknown. The Doctor's mother also appeared. So as you can imagine, it was quite odd that some of what I wrote down appeared in the fifth series (Time Lords returning, the Doctor's mum in The End of Time, male and female companions, enemies returning for revenge on the Doctor.) I wonder whatever happened to my ideas. Maybe Moffatt stole them.

Might be worth opening a new thread to advertise it.
