feeding and eating habits of cats

I am a vet and I amconducting a research project on cats. My interest is in investigating differences in the eating behaviour in cats, and factors in the environment which may influence such differences.
A proportion of owned cats show eating behaviours which are unusual or abnormal. For example, some cats eat materials other than food (such as wool, plastic or plants). Others may eat very fast leading to regurgitation or vomiting. There is, however, very little research on these types of problems in cats. Therefore the aim of my study is to investigate how frequent these types of behaviour are, and whether they are related to any other aspects of the cat (such as breed) or environment (such as number or type of meals).
I would very much appreciate your assistance with my research, by completing a questionnaire about your own cat.at the following address:
https://www.survey.bris.ac.uk/awb/eatingcat

Thank you very much!

Done- however my cat was very overweight when I got her and has now slimmed down. Unfortunately it's left her with excess skin. From above she looks normal slim cat size, from the side- she looks like she needs a tummy tuck!

Done, my cat's weight has barely deviated since she was a year and a half old (now 10), I leave her dry food and water and she eats when she wants, she gets my left overs as a treat from time to time (esp if I'm having fish, ham or chicken).

Started on the diet today, so will probably have one miserable pussy for a while. I finally bought some luggage weighing scales and discovered that despite cutting down on the food, she is still putting on weight, so I am starting her on diet food and will take delivery of a "Do not feed" collar just in case she is being fed elsewhere. Hoped that by cutting down on food she would slim naturally. Will now follow the vets advice.

Our cat is grazer she likes to eat little and often but doesn't like dry food except for one brand. She refuses to go near tinned cat meat/pouches She likes roast chicken and turkey, salmon and tuna. She however hasn't been drinking much of late. She will only drink kitten milk. Is cream any good for cats?

I'm glad your cat is no longer overweight...even if the tummy now is funny..but ours to could be if we loose a lot of weight..

Weel done, if she is able to control her self, little meals are very good, very similar to what happens in nature.

If she is use to drink milk and has never shown any digestion problem, the cream should be fine, just be careful for the fat and give her only a small amount!

I hope that diet will work!
Let's introduce very gradually the diet food, so she can get use.

I've done my best but the cat I choose to fill the questionaire in for is a fiend for raw chicken wings, and feeding raw food isn't really covered in the questionaire. She weighs 3.6 kg which is perfect for her breed and size. She gets one wing a day, she will steal them from the fridge if the door is open (like just now as it's defrosting!), she will eat almost nothing else, and she has the most beautiful teeth...

Also my back garden is cat-proof, so they can go out in a limited sort of way.

She does have a flap of skin between her back legs but it's just skin, and she needs it when she stretches!
