What would you do with SJA?

Just wondering if you were in RTD's shoes what would you do with SJA. We've been told the series won't continue but would you show the 3 stories? Or leave it as it is at the moment.
I myself would show the 3 stories because of all the hard work The Crew and especially Elisabeth put into them. Then I would finish it off with a special hour long Episode with Clyde, Rani, try and get Maria back also Jo Grant and any other people that met Sarah Jane attending her Funeral after she Mysteriously died. Then at the End The Doctor captures the Alien that killed her and makes a speech at her funeral. Then a scene using Video Footage with Sarah Jane going to Heaven, with The Doctor, Clyde and Rani watching.

Your Thoughts?

No.

Air the ones that were filmed then leave it. Especially not that one about heaven. Think of all the issues.

End it.

Sarah Jane Adventures without Sarah Jane is pointless.

Elisabeth would've wanted it to end.

Leave it. The reasons said above and didn't think it was as good as Doctor Who anyway.

Although I did like the ending of the last series I think that the episodes should air. A kind of final tribute as you said. I suppose I would finish it with some kind of special.
One episode where the Doctor shows what happens to each member of the gang and ends with saying something like "and Sarah Jane? Sarah Jane Smith dedicated her life to defending Earth" Maybe something about loving people too. you know soppy stuff. Close it with a shot of the attic.
Leave it ambiguous as to if Sarah Jane is dead in universe though. (Hopefully not).

@ j22kh, I disagree, I think Elisabeth would have wanted it to continue but then I didn't know her and I doubt you did either so we'll never really know what she wanted

Personally, I would definitely show the episodes they have already made (which I think they are doing) and then I think it should end there. If it was to continue, I would want it to be set a couple of years later, Sarah Jane has moved away and retired from protecting the earth leaving the job in the hands of Clyde, Rani and Luke and possible Maria.

I don't want Sarah Jane to die, there's no need for that. She can go and join the Brig or Barbara and Ian.

I think there should be one more story after the three filmed stories to wrap things up but then end it. As has been said, doesn't seem much point without Sarah and any replacement should form part of a brand new series. There again, maybe that idea wouldn't work and things should be left after the Series has been shown.

William Russell - who played Ian - is still alive. As is Sarah Jane Smith.

I noticed that it was stated as a fact by a forum member in the Elisabeth Sladen tribute thread so perhaps that's where you picked it up from?

Anyway, the SJA seasons always finish with a little "life's what you make it so don't waste it" speech from Sarah Jane, don't they? The fifth series finale finished shooting last year so there may already be a suitable ending.

Excellent point - though the BBC does tend to be more "honest" with younger viewers about "the facts of life" these days so a well written storyline that encompasses the death of a heroine (especially when those kids already know that Lis has gone) wouldn't necessarily be rejected outright.

I think it's only right to show the remaining episodes. After that end the series and then broadcast another compilation episode as a tribute

However, keep the series alive by hiring an author to write books with continuing episodes. No actors required and Sarah Jane continues to have her adventures.

I certainly have no doubts that the episodes that have been completed should be shown. Elisabeth's family should have a say in when they're shown; if they feel that the autumn, when they'd presumably have normally aired, is too soon, by all means delay them.

I must admit, I would quite like the show to go on. I can see that's not the majority view on this thread, but, while Sarah Jane was at the heart of the programme, Luke, Clyde and Rani are such good characters it seems a shame to lose them too. But then perhaps the young actors themselves wouldn't want to do the show without Elisabeth?

In any case, it's clear the show won't continue. But I do hope we'll see those last episodes.

That's a good idea. I'm not a fan of DW/TW books myself but I can see that they would be popular.

It does seem a shame that we won't see Rani, Clyde etc again but it wouldn't be the same.
