Looks like it could be good - read about it in the Metro this morning.

Am already impressed with how nice the trauma consultant is. I have worked with a lot of consultants and know that those under only half the pressure he is would be a nightmare to work with in that environment!!

Watching +1, she was looking for certain type of response I think.
'Done all the awkward bits' a bit of sarcasm/humour, show he was still there, still himself.

See lots of dry humour on Bizarre ER from friends, family and patients, even when looking at digits being removed due to trauma.

That was good.
Not a bad thing to see quite how chipper the Consultant is that the guy who went under the bus was still alive.
Nice endings all round, Theodore back walking, Tom climbing ladders and the other fella back on his bike.
I suspect next week won't be so happy, now we know some of the faces.

I found this programme really insightful and touching, one of the best uses of 'reality tv' I've seen in a long time, or possibly, ever!

Love the consultant, what a guy! I hope I'd have someone like him looking after me if I was in trouble. In fact seeing all the staff at work somewhat restored my faith in humanity! They were fab.

I was relieved the patients all recovered, but I suspect this episode was meant to ease us in and future episodes may be more upsetting

When it showed Theodore sat in his wheelchair I thought oh good , at least he's recovered enough to take part in the programme ...... then he stood up and walked ...... I was blubbing ....... cracking programme by the same production team that brought us 'Coppers' ....

Old Guardian article about Ch4 and fixed camera docs.
http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/2011...-documentaries

They might be flooding the market with them, but they're yielding some good stuff IMO.
As long as they don't fall into the same rut the BBC did with their reality docs years ago and focus too much on certain characters.

I enjoyed it. Had a giggle at the way they kept showing the consultant repeatedly telling everyone the story about the man bent in two.

Makes me proud to have that A&E department as part of my local hospital.

I've been in there a couple of times over the last few years and the staff are nothing short of excellent.

Well said. It's also my local hospital, been to the A&E department once and other departments at the hospital for a couple of on-going health problems, in fact I'm there every month at the moment.

Yes it was amusing, came over quite geeky in a way.
It's nice to see someone that enthused about their job though and amazed that Theodore made it.

Just watched this. Really enjoyed it - shows the NHS and it's staff at their best.

The featured staff were all great. I could sympthise with the nurse who took her son to nursery with a bad foot for three days as I've been similarly 'bracing' with my own child .

I know it was a shame, but the cyclist's answers to the questions made me smile - bless him. So glad he recovered so well.

Theodore was a bit of a miracle - so good to see him walking at the end. Also felt for his brother - how awful that journey from Greece must have been.

As for Tom I know he should probably stay away from ladders but I had to laugh at the thought of him secretly scuttling up a ladder when Barbara wasn't looking.

It's actually the production company's very first broadcast programme. More upcoming programmes here

I'm surprised this thread isn't very active, it had 2.6million people watching!

I thought it was an ok show, had a few interesting characters including the family of the guy who fell of the ladder

Probably not face paced enough with standout 'characters', fighting or people posters can look down on or have a go at, that's why there's a lack of punters/posts.

More likely is that it had no showbiz element or other downmarket things about it that would probably appeal to most who read this forum.

A phone in to decide who was to live or die would have been another one for DS users.

It's a wonderful place when you consider it's in the middle of a hell hole - Camberwell and Peckham one side, Brixton and Stockwell the other side. A 15 year old boy was stabbed to death yesterday in Camberwell, he would have ended up at Kings A&E.

Not to mention the affluent areas of Dulwich and Herne Hill to the south of Kings' catchment area which leads to a eclectic mix of patients.

The house used in BBC Three's Young, Dumb and Living off Mum was filmed half a mile away from the hospital, which shows how rich and poor are side by side in this part of London.

Don't I know it! I worked in the Press Office and there was hardly a week went by where there wasn't a stab victim in A&E, with the press wanting to know all gory details

Haven't seen the programme yet, but my boyfriend used to work as a porter there, so I know one member of staff was excellent
