"Here's looking at you Kid"
Poor Reg, and no visitors.....a headache for the Doctors too. You really did feel he was going to die.
But what great Doctors Firaz and Andre {ponytail} were, telling it as it is, but with a caring way, that was reassuring....NHS at it's best. And then there was Richard, with his Knee...... |

I was fuming for Reg, I really was. How long was he in that bloody bed before his daughter decided to show her face?
I appreciate his wife was ill, but his daughter had no excuses. As someone who nursed her Dad through lung Cancer I spent many hours in A&E over the last 2 months of his life with him, as soon as I got the call that he had been taken in I'd be there (I beat the ambulance once, much to the paramedics amusement!). I just simply cannot understand a child who knows their parent is in hospital yet chooses to go to an appointment rather than the hospital. Nothing is more important at that time. Nothing. So much upside in the program and you choose to sit there fuming, when you've got nothing of the backstory. Look up, not down as Danny Baker says. |

This far outweighs the plonkers who pass through the department from time to time. |

This is a nice example of why I stayed away from the thread for a while.
So much upside in the program and you choose to sit there fuming, when you've got nothing of the backstory. Look up, not down as Danny Baker says. I apologise for the fact that as a caring individual it annoyed me to see an old, fragile man left without anyone there, without a familiar face in a life or death situation. Whatever the 'backstory' it was mentioned the Daughter had gone to an appointment instead. No appointment is more important IMHO. How you view a program is your prerogative, how I view one is entirely mine. |

I do apologise, I didn't realise there was an acceptable way to react to a TV Program, especially when you have been in that situation yourself. When you have sat in A&E for 12 hours until 7am the following morning waiting for beds while over worked and underpaid Dr's and Nurses dealt with idiots and drunks.
If she was with him, how bad/what did they think the problem was at that time? Is there some history between Reg and his Daughter that wasn't in the program that you know about, that we don't, as you say there are 'no excuses'. When my Aunt was extremely ill, before she died, not one of her 5+ children went to help her. The above is pretty much the questions that went through my head when we didn't see the daughter. |

I was wondering what this appointment was that was so important to Reg's daughter. I don't see very much of my father- he's not a Daddy Dad, very arms length- but if I got a call from an A&E doctor or indeed a consultant, I'd be there before they'd got to 'ok bye'. It's your father for god's sake! Docs don't generally make those calls, it's normally nurses and admin staff. If it's docs on the phone it's bad. Very bad. |

Form an orderly queue behind me my dear. It was love at first sight! Or crush at any rate. Mind you he looks a bit like my idiot ex a bit, just a complete personality difference (to Andre's credit)!

The Daughter didn't get the call, because she wasn't there and didn't have a mobile, it was only the 'confused' Mother at home.
I think it's something to do with an attempted suicide next week. Another moral debate will be started I bet! Look forward to it! |

But the risks seem to have paid off spectacularly. ![]() This is a huge ratings success for Channel 4, up to 3.5 million viewers, one of their most popular programmes and certainly their most popular documentary series. The series has already been sold to American TV and, rumour has it, Sister Jen has gone out there to help promote it. Now, if you were at Channel 4 wouldn't you be beating the door down at King's College Hospital to film a second series. My sources tell me that is indeed the case and negotiations are under way for the second series to start filming early next year.To allow time for editing etc. the programmes should be shown towards the end of the year.

It's a bit like One Born Every Minute which won a BAFTA if I recall correctly. We clearly like hospitals and we like a bit of drama! Something of a surprise hit for Channel 4. Largely word of mouth, I didn't see that many ads for it, unlike The Apprentice which gets rammed down our throats constantly by newspapers and the Beeb.
Tis a rubbish show anyway. Least people on this show and OBEM are likeable |

Loved the black porter last night (sorry didn't catch his name) his outlook was great.
Loving the series, sad it must be over soon. Got to say Channel 4 have hit the mark recenly with their fly on the wall docs, this and the hotel are great. |

I finally watched this epsiode the other day, I found his little chat about the violence between black youth gangs and his thoughts on it most poignant, in fact I would say it was so heartfelt and true that it should be used publicly ie on an advert or something. It was just the way he worded it , it may make a few people think before they act.

I really like this programme, and one of the reasons is that it doesn't assume I am dumb & constantly tell me what I have seen, and what's coming up.

Re the man who is crying during the opening credits, the one who is talking on a mobile and says 'no'. Have we heard his story yet?
I've missed an episode or two and I'm curious to know if he's been featured? |

Sometimes you see someone in the dept and just think "What in the world?!" - what had happened to that guy by the door with the huge swelling in his cheek/jaw?

Such a strong family resemblence between Omar and his son.
AAA is a really bad diagnosis I'm afraid. |
