I'm guessing his Daughter fusses over him a bit too much for his liking, but age reduces your powers...

My thoughts too - he especially seemed at a loss at the thought of being on his own. It's going to happen to us all but some folks seem to be more unable to cope than others - and sadly, the husbands (especially those of the older generation) do not do well when OH passes.
That old mans daughter Jennifer has been in Telly before...was it CDWM?

Bea and George were a lovely couple. Had me in floods at one point when George was asking whether he'd be allowed to stay with his wife. What a contrast to the kids comming in one after the other with multiple stab wounds
I don't know of any other programme that catches just what it means to be human better. Deserving of a much wider audience, programmes of this quality don't come along very often.
