It really gets to me how we wouldn't let one of our pets suffer on in the same way that we do with terminally ill patients. I know every case is different but my dad had to endure so much pain and confusion in the last few days despite being on a lot of morphine and it would have been so much kinder to have been able to help him die peacefully. Having said that, he had a similiar infection 3 months before he died and was in a right state, but recovered from that and although weak and in pain, was mentally competent and with a reasonable quality of life for a while afterwards. It was just that last week that was torture to watch.”
I had the same with my friend, as I mentioned above. She fought cancer for 16 years, then caught MRSA from the hospital and that took her from us.
It's a bloody awful disease and the sooner we find a treatment or cure, the better
