Slightly OT but no daughter is due to have a baby and has named me as her birth partner...I hope I will cope! ( I should be worried about her really shouldn't I!) I can't bare seeing them in pain.
I was there when my granddaughter was born in October, all the way through. It was tough, but especially so if it's your daughter rather than daughter-in-law like mine. I did get to cut the cord though, which was an unusual experience and nothing like I expected!

eek! still great she wants you in with her - i think it will be seeing her in pain and maybe distressed that will be most difficult for you as her mum.

Oh wow I didn't know that a burn could cause your heart to stop due to lack of liquids. Is that the same for adults?
Thats how second and especially third degree burns kill. Major fluid and salt loss from the skin and/or subcutaneous tissue leading to the body going into shock and death if the fluid balance cant be restored.

Jeez this is not good. Worse than I thought. Kinda went a bit when she started wanting her Mummy. May have to sneak up and give mine a cuddle at this rate

And to think I stayed dry eyed through Love Story, The Crying Game, Schindler's List etc

Can't they give that girl something that would knock her out - keeping her awake seems a bit harsh to me.

They probably need her awake so if anything serious occurs, they can nip it in the bud quickly. I think they only knock people out if really needs doing...

Oh gosh - this bit is making me weepy too. Poor Maurice - dementia is so hard for the family.
