Does seem like a bit of a propaganda exercise for the hospital. Certainly not my experience of hospitals. Notes being lost, general lack of communication, incompetent staff, etc

I've had many more positive experiences than negative ones. I see no reason to doubt its authenticity.

The problem here is you clearly not understanding what the program is about, go watch Panorama, Dispatches or similar. |

24hrs In A&E leaves me speechless every week.
What is it about the concept of ACCIDENT AND EMERGENCY that people don't understand? ACCIDENT and EMERGENCY is for ACCIDENTS AND EMERGENCIES, not for ear infections, stiff necks, a place for drunks to sober up, etc... Amazing! How on earth the staff put up with the drunks, drug addicts, time wasters and all round general scum of the earth that makes up the Great British public I really don't know? |

Watching on +1 that girl is moaning that her ears hurt, yet she has spent most the time on the phone? when my ears hurt the last thing i would want is someone talking in my ear.
And her attitude stinks! |

And her attitude stinks! Thats what GP's are for - Though given her attitude I suppose its possible she might have been struck off by her GP. |

An absolute arse was'nt he?
![]() At the very most it seemed to me she probably needed a couple of paracetamol and a new pillow. Yet she desended on A&E with her ghastly husband and delinquent brats - Wasted god knows how many hours time of the doctors and nurses, not to mention money and resources and for what? A stiff neck. Unbelievable. |

I couldn't understand what the wifes problem was. She claimed to have a pain in her neck, yet seemed to move her around perfectly freely. At one point she said the pain was worse than child birth, yet gave the impression of not being in the slightest distress?

I'm a big supporter of the NHS and for the service remaining free at the point of need, but if non emergency patients had to pay a contribution for using A&E I'm sure it would have a big effect in cutting down a lot of these time wasters and hypochondriacs. Let them go and waste their GP's time and leave A&E for the critical emergency care that its meant for.

Soon as I saw the kids running down the corridors I thought "Oh God here we go", but once they got them settled with their colouring they seemed ok. Personally if I'd been the mum, I'd have sent them home with dad. Hospital's no place for a kid. Or that prat she's living with
Was I alone in liking Colin and Esther? I hope they stay together, they seemed good for each other. Guess he's moved away from London! Nancy was awesome and Robert seemed a nice chap, even when drunk. I thought he was going to tell that girl in the waiting room exactly what he thought of her at one point! Next week looks interesting- is it going to kick off? Reckon those wannabe gangsters have met their match in Jen, she seems like she could be FIERCE! |

I think her GP would've been able to diagnose and prescribe those. She clearly had tested the patience of the staff there. What was with her OCD? She has to have a cotton bud with her else she goes nuts? WTF? Takes allsorts as my old granny would've said. She also, I noticed, had this irritating habit I've noticed amongst teen girls of answering the phone to her mother and saying MOTHER OF MIN- listen at me, 32 years old and I sound like a granny! If my daughter did that she'd have an ear infection from the amount of times she'd been clipped around it. It sounded so rude!

Yeah. I'm not doubting it's authenticity. But it's definitely geared towards showing the hospital in as favourable a light as possible. Probably a pre-requisite to allowing them to film there in the first place.
There will be some people who will agree what happened was wrong others who did not see it as a problem. If the hubby had taken the root of an official complaint and it was ongoing the scene would probably not have been shown, the same if a member of staff was the subject of on going disciplinary tribunual, the same as some patients are not identified for legal reasons due to their criminal activities which are not mentioned in the programme. The programme is about showing what happens in a department of a hospital not about highlighting faults or pointing a finger, that's for another type of programme. |

But you saw tonight a relative of a patient angered by the action of a member of staff towards his wife.

Why does that cretin with the broken neck keep saying "yeah" all the bloody time? If it were me I'd forget about my Hippocratic oath for a moment and let the pathetic waste of Oxygen take his neck-brace off and see how far could get.

Assuming she'd gone to her GP and was complaining about 'I think' she got a better, more knowledgeable diagnosis going to A&E, 'I know', rather than 'I think' A&E also seemed to find out the cause of the problem OCD. Maybe she had a legitimate complaint then? I thought she'd actually been talking to NHS direct or similar over the phone, she did say 'that they didn't have any appointments' If it's like a lot of people's experience, no appointments, really means no appointments within a week. I'm not sure a Doctor would say it's a good idea to leave an ear infection untreated and undiagnosed for a week. My mate had a wait and see attitude with an ear infection until he fell off his bike in front of a bus, luckily at low speed, due to the infection affecting is balance. As for OCD haven't you heard of it or how it can affect people? I'm guessing she keeps cleaning her ears, until she's damaged them, causing the infection. I'm guessing the A&E doctor or nurse took a look at her ear and inquired how it had got in such a state, leading to the OCD diagnosis. There's a ENT saying 'don't put anything smaller than your elbow in your ear' lots of people ignore that bit of advice though. Don't know whats so rude/irritating about mother of mine, hey ho, everyone's got their foibles. Nobody noticed her thanking/waving at the staff, when she was leaving then? |
