I was only half watching bits of it, while doing other things, watch it properly later.
Assuming she'd gone to her GP and was complaining about 'I think' she got a better, more knowledgeable diagnosis going to A&E, 'I know', rather than 'I think' A&E also seemed to find out the cause of the problem OCD. Maybe she had a legitimate complaint then? I thought she'd actually been talking to NHS direct or similar over the phone, she did say 'that they didn't have any appointments' If it's like a lot of people's experience, no appointments, really means no appointments within a week. I'm not sure a Doctor would say it's a good idea to leave an ear infection untreated and undiagnosed for a week. My mate had a wait and see attitude with an ear infection until he fell off his bike in front of a bus, luckily at low speed, due to the infection affecting is balance. As for OCD haven't you heard of it or how it can affect people? I'm guessing she keeps cleaning her ears, until she's damaged them, causing the infection. I'm guessing the A&E doctor or nurse took a look at her ear and inquired how it had got in such a state, leading to the OCD diagnosis. There's a ENT saying 'don't put anything smaller than your elbow in your ear' lots of people ignore that bit of advice though. Don't know whats so rude/irritating about mother of mine, hey ho, everyone's got their foibles. Nobody noticed her thanking/waving at the staff, when she was leaving then? I have had problems with my ears before and been advised to go to a walk in centre as i could not get a appointment with my GP, There are many walk in centre's in London and im pretty sure there are many in and around the UK. |

I've had a lifetime of ENT issues- am partially deaf and prone to all sorts of ear and throat infections. I've only ever had to go to hospital once which was for an operation and I've had some pretty nasty problems including balance issues like the aforementioned gentleman. I just don't see why she couldn't go to a drop in centre like the rest of us? Yes I have sympathy with OCD sufferers but I'm afraid I can be a bit old fashioned and see people claiming to have OCD when they don't. She seemed all sweetness and light when she left, that's cos she finally got her own way. Sorry, her attitude just annoyed me.

I, too have had pretty much every ear problem you can think of. My ears have been so bad that five years ago my ENT consultant was looking in my ears and turned to his collegue and said "come and look at this patients ears - You'll only ever see one case like this in your career" So when it comes to ear infections and ear problems I know what I'm talking about.
In all my life I've never once had to go to A&E with my ears. GP's are perfectly capable of dealing with ear infections (whether self inflicted through cleaning with cotton wool buds or not) and if the problem is chronic they will refer the patient to ENT. The only time ear problems could become an emergency would be if the infaction got so bad it spread to the mastoid bone, which can in turn lead to a brain infection - That is exceptionally rare though, and if it did happen the patient would be extremely ill with Meningitis type symptoms - Certainly nothing like that silly girl was presenting with. She should have done like the rest of us have to do when we have minor infections, take paracetamol every four hours and wait to see her GP. |

Her friend seemed totally unconcerned, we only had the girl's description of events, she wasn't shown talking to any medical staff. I suspect 24 hours later she'd probably complain her ears were still hurting and the hospital did nothing. |

Her rant about 'think' was a big clue where her real problem lay. She appeared satisfied to be informed the infection could go to her brain and she'd die, then she threw in she need to go to a counsellor.

I liked Colin and Esther too. Thought they were very sweet together although I could understand her mum and dad having kittens. I absolutley loved Nancy. I'm glad she's planning another holiday - just wish she could find a companion to live with so that she isn't lonely and afraid at night. Such a lovely lady and so very positive about everything. I was also glad about Robert being able to spend time with his family - have to say both he and Nancy made my eyes a bit misty. |

Love Kevin the porter he obviously enjoys his job! I was wondering if we'd hear anything about Kevin, he's the most consistent member of staff we see, others come and go. I've given up trying to work out what was going on with the French guy who was acting out with Jen. |

I take it all the patients on this programme have to give permission to be filmed? Not surprised the drunk suited man is blurred out. Doubt his bosses in the Commons would be keen to see him like this.

![]() One of the various things listed as 'The English Disease' depending on who you talk to is Moaning. As long as they're venting to their mates I'll let it ride, they're not giving it to the staff. |

that porter should be on X-Factor. Really nice voice.
Can't stand the attitudes of those gang members. Trouble is they'll probably watch this and think they were dead hard. |

I thought the Commons was only subsidised though not free, basically not for profit. He seemed to wobble out under his own steam later, so was probably too peed to sign a waiver. |

Only said he was drinking at the Commons, considering he seems to have gone ape$hit at the novelty of free drink, he was probably a guest.

He had a Commons staff ID badge on him though so he was either an MP or worked there.....
Getting back to the other FM's point about not been seen like this by his bosses. Given the drinking culture in this country and the fact that the Commons has a bar at all, his bosses would probably be hugely hypocritical having a go at him for being rotten drunk. We didn't get any follow up on the chap who's Mum did the piece to camera. He was full of pi$$ and vinegar until the anger and adrenaline wore off and he had a few tears. |

Another depressing episode where you just despair at the state of Britain in 2011.
