Were you shocked the girls won?
I was. I thought the boys had won by a landslide judging by the feedback shown during the programme.

Yes, I wanted them to lose as I tohught the boys did so much better and at least most liked their app.
Plus if girls lost we could of heard the missing five girls speak for themselves. |

Makes you wonder what business skills the task required/ demonstrated.
I mean the girls were awful at pitching, their product managed to be even more ridiculous than the boys, and yet the boys still get lambasted by Sugar because in the notoriously random and fickle market of free app downloading- they got less downloads. |

Not at all.
The boys app was a lot crapper than the girls app. |

I was in total disbelief at the number of downloads they only got overnight . Then again I don't think many of us would understand the slang used in other countries .

No. I thought the boys idea was a loser as soon as it was mentioned. It obviously did not have global appeal. One of them even mentioned this.
It's normal when they have to pitch to three clients, that only one of the three will be significant. So it didn't bother me that the boys got two of them because it was clear that the third and last, won by the girls, was the one that mattered. |

I thought both apps were poo, but the boys did a better job with what they had.
But, like the boys, I don't understand the market. In hindsight I can see why the girls won, but am not entirely sure they knew why they'd won mind. |

I was more shocked that the boys overlooked the fact that their product would be meaningless to anyone outside the UK. They restricted their market considerably and it cost them dearly.

I wasn't surprised due to the editing - I got a telegram yesterday that the boys would lose this task that's how obvious they made it ... none of the ladies got really any camera time at all!

Although the girls' product didn't seem as well produced, the idea was much simpler and because it was sounds not words it had global appeal. Didn't warm to Edna, but her hardline decision making, especially saying they didn't have time for Susan's idea cos she couldn't explain it quickly, seems to have been spot on. |

Both apps seemed awful to me, but the girls' did seem worse. But then I don't have a mobile phone, never mind apps, so I'm not the target group.

Nope, but only because a poster blurted it out in two threads on Tuesday night without spoiler tags (along with the fired candidate)
![]() ![]() Spoilt my viewing of it last night, knowing the result

let's be honest, both apps were rubbish, but the boys one was less rubbish than the girls.
However, this is to be entirely expected given that they're entirely new to the field, and had to whip everything out in one day. The key issue was that the app store (and I'm sure the droid equivalent) only lets you see a few lines of text about the app to get your interest peaking. The boys did the typical thing that most technical guys do, which is talk with lots of technospeak that just confuses people. The girls description was sweet and succint, the boys one was just confusing. I think that culd have been make or break. |

Both apps had to be fairly poor and simplistic because of the timescale invoked. And it was purely down to the online mag that the girls won, despite Sugar's denial of this. I can't believe the whole world (of blackberry users that is) decided they wanted an app of crap noises simultaneously.
And the editing of the show now completely gives it away. If one team gets all the airtime and it's going well for them, they've lost. |

I thought both apps were complete crap, I suppose you have to be a 12 year old boy to find either of them appealing. I thought the girls app was worst, they did terrible pitches where it mattered so I was really surprised they won

No, I've been watching this show long enough to do that when they show one team doing really well it means the other one is going to win it!

Have to agree with others, the editing was a dead giveaway.

Not surprised at all, this seems to be a regular feature of the show nowadays, show one side as obviously ahead and then the big shock reveal of the winner when they get to the boardroom.
Trouble is, they have done that so often now the result is becoming as predictable as if they had announced the winning team half way through, and reversing the effect the producers are trying to achieve. |

I was more surprised that they won the pitch than that they won the task. If I were the big magazine and worrying about potentially offending people I wouldn't have gone with the girls, I'd have featured neither.

I was surprised that the girls won because of the way the programme was edited.
I think their app was better for the target market, though. If you want to insult someone in a funny accent it's best if both you and the insultee already know the accent so you don't need a phone to do it for you. (And the speakers on phones are not usually that good so something in an odd accent may well be incomprehensible.) On the other hand it's always possible to have a few laughs with sound effects. |

It was only when Karen paused for such a long time before reading out the later figures that I knew the girls had got it - although I had a strong suspicion when they split up the figures. Why even do that if there wasn't some dramatic reversal if fortunes? |
