I didn't understand either of them, but to me an app is what you have to keep the doc away

Both apps were pretty awful and the boys worked more effectively. However the boys' app did not have global appeal - it was English (and UK) specific. They would have done better to have marketed it as a slang vocabulary tool for learners of English instead of a fun soundboard. The girls' app, although the name was dreadful and they pitched it badly, worked as well for Japanese users as for English and that's why the got the global downloads.

Both were terrible and although I enjoyed the boys performance a lot more they made the fundamental mistake of not listening at the start and not targeting their market correctly.

They got so caught up in the idea and presentation (which was certainly more polished than the girls) they didn't stop to think what their real audience was. Silly, silly mistake. They could have walked it otherwise.

Wasn't really shocked. I kinda had the feeling throughout the show that the way it was being edited was setting us up for the big SURPISE in the boardroom - aside from the obvious reason that the boys' app. was in no way global. I felt a little manipulated at the end .. but throroughly enjoyed it. Loving the way this series has begun.

well Felicity did the market research that an app is a time watsre and it was her idea to do the annoying sounds app so I guess she won the task for Edna.

At first yes, then when you think about it. Most of the extra sales after the first 6 hours were from the world, and who outside the UK wants a UK accent app?

Silly noises are annoying globally

I'm so glad I'm an iphone user. Because it would seem that Blackberry users will download just about anything onto their phones going by the girl's app LOL.

Their app just confused me. And also that guy from wired magazine going on about racial stereotypes? Like wtf? Since when is Welsh a race first of all? And second... Come on, there are so many apps out there that are there to offend. Look at that recent Christian app that was promoting to "cure homosexuality"...

The boy's app is the least offensive one out there... In fact it isn't offensive at all...

Its funny how five of the girls said they didnt like the app in the boardroom, to distance themselves from it. Fully expecting them to lose. Melody was the first with the others joining her.

There is 3 or 4 women in that team, that would never take her into the boardroom, no matter how badly she performs on the task.

Melody is no Jim though

Having said what I said though, I completely get why their app didn't appeal to a global market... it was basically full of British slang words... They should have marketed it as such. But 10,000 BB users downloading the girls app? Really? LMAO

I can see little kids getting the annoying noises to annoy their parents.

Was it Zoe, Natasha, Ellie and Helen by any chance as they don't seem to do much at all?

I thought the boys had that one in the bag. I was really looking forward to a cat fight in the boardroom and seeing Edna get taken down a peg.

I was not shocked at all. There was absolutely nothing "global" about the boys' idea. They were doomed from there on in.

Given the editing I wasn't shocked but the girls didn't deserve to win. The boys worked as a much stronger team, Leon was an ok PM whereas Edna was awful. The boys did better presentations and were more creative.
The boys did raise the global issue themselves though and I don't know why they didn't add in a few International slangatangs. It wouldn't have taken long for them to add a couple of Australian one's a few American one's and some say in Chinese ... just to open the market up a little ....?

To be honest I dont know which of the girls did, sorry. It was probably the first time they had spoken in the episode.

There was an Australian one - the pic was of the guy with corks on his hat. The magazine guys commented on it in the pitch.

One of them was Susan, who was talking to camera during the task that the product was pretty much rubbish.

Mind you, is there anybody who disagrees with those 5 ladies At least not Karren Brady.

They did have Aussie ones and, IIRC, American, too. As for Chinese, white British guys doing a pretend Chinese accent and saying stereotypical "comedy" Chinese phrases? I think that would very easily cross the line into racist.

I'm not sure who would download such crap but their app was non offensive and "global". They also won the most important advert placement.

I wasn't shocked at all. The BBC was so blatant in the editing that halfway through the show it was clear the boys would be the losing team.

What shocked me was that Leon wasn't fired when he's shown to be an easily manipulated 'chicken' that he is!

I just love it when the arrogance begins in the Mens team, they choose their apps or soup and then the ego trip begins.

High Fives, haw haw haw, team talks in the car, then they fall flat on their smug faces.

Quite endearing

That seems a good idea, I guess it wouldnt of attracted much interest from UK customers but it would probably do well enough in the global market to do win.

I thought, however bad the boys idea is, they will win by default - purely because the girls is soo bad. Annoying noises would have a global market but I thought the way they executed the whole thing was terrible - I mean a dog barking over an elephant picture that didnt annoy me it just made me think WTF . I dont know much about apps but after understanding a bit more now, I can see their 'information' tagline thing was much more catchy. I was suspicious about the editing, because they were all shown (the boys) to be very confident going into the boardroom but suddenly they cut to one guy saying in the cab 'you should never be too confident anything can happen' - that seemed like an obvious clue something might be about to go wrong.

'haw haw haw' I know, it's hilarious. I would be too cautious to be high fiving around the place and putting on the smug face before I'd even won - however well things had gone - because you just end up looking a right tit if the whole thing falls apart. I think the once theyve lost a couple, the begin to calm down with all that and teams often begin to get mixed up anyway
