Remote control instructions
We've just yesterday bought a Sony KDL32BX300U 32 Inch HD Ready LCD TV and there are no instructions at all about the remote control!
Are we supposed to guess what all the buttons are for? When we last bought a HD ready telly (the first one we bought) about 3 years ago (which was a Samsung) there was the usual picture of the remote control in the instructions with arrows pointing to what every button was/did so we were expecting the same, but there was nothing. And we're a bit wary of pressing a button that does something we can't undo! lol |

The KDL32BX300 is a special cheap supermarket model, does it have the instructions on screen like the normal models?.
There's usually a button labelled 'i-manual' towards the top left of most current Sony remotes, and that brings the instructions up on-screen. But in any case, there's nothing you can press that can't be undone - and all settings are done via the Menu/Home button, so be wary with that. |

The Guide button doesn't work, the programme up and down button doesn't work, but the volume one does,so it's things like that we thought an intruction manual would help with! But an on-screen guide to the remote is certainly helpful, thank you for that! |

The telly is actually for a bedroom and it was replacing an ancient telly (the ones that weigh a ton) so we didn't need a top of the range one, a 'cheap supermarket model was good enough! By comparison to the other one this is like the top of range in terms of picture/screen quality!

But an on-screen guide to the remote is certainly helpful, thank you for that! As it's got a on-screen instruction manual, the paper one basically consists of telling you to press the i-manual, and does give you a picture of where it is - everything else is on-screen. It does mean you can't lose the instruction book!. |

If the guide button doesn't work, presumably you are in a non-Freeview area?, it will presumably work after DSO when (if?) you get Freeview. I don't see why the program up/down buttons don't work? - are you perhaps using it on a satellite or cable box, and not an aerial?.

It does mean you can't lose the instruction book!. And yes, we're using them on cable boxes. Though when I use the programme up/down button on the Samsung telly, it switches to the Freeview channels,.So we can get Freeview on that. If I want to change channels I use the Virgin remote, anyway, so I rarely use the one on the telly remote. But of course I do if I want to look at a Freeview channel - which is rarely. |

Well the guide button doesn't work on the Samsung telly either but as I've never known what it would do, I don't miss it!

They don't work at the moment as you're using it as a monitor, so there's no channel changing or selection involved. Quote:

You don't really need to know what the TV remote buttons do then, as you're not using hardly any of it ![]() As she said before, all she can do with it at the moment (before finding instructions) is use it to turn the telly on and off!

I have the Samsung telly in my bedroom. The new Sony one is for my sister in her bedroom so she does need to know what the buttons do.
As she said before, all she can do with it at the moment (before finding instructions) is use it to turn the telly on and off! why don't you simply download the full manual from the link I posted ?If you need help with the download just ask. |

Baffled
why don't you simply download the full manual from the link I posted ?If you need help with the download just ask. As I said previously, if I press the programme button 'up' on my Samsung remote, I go onto Freeview, as I do if I put in a programme number on the TV remote, (like I've just pressed 82 and Sky News is now on) but again, the numbers don't work on her remote either. You press them, and nothing happens. But at least we now know what all the buttons on the remote control are called and are supposed to do, even if they don't! |
