Melody is really full of herself
She's always got a smug look on her face and there isn't anything she hasn't done or put her hand to. However, fair play to her for not getting involved in gossiping with Sara about Edna.

I can't think of a single Apprentice candidate that hasn't had a high opinion of themselves. It's a pre-requisite for getting onto the show. The question is whether they live up to their own hype.
I thought Melody did a reasonable enough job leading the first task. It can't be easy easy managing a large number of women who you don't know. She's quite sparky. I don't mind her. The voice is still taking some getting used to though. |

Spot on about her voice Sid. I've said elsewhere my ears need a rest from her already. I am however in awe of her education. Not many have been trained by Al Gore, the Dalai Lama and (can't remember the third notable figure
)

Just been handed a note by three non-Forum members. It reads
Go Go Melody, we're right behind you. Luv Al, Des and Dalai. |

I think she's an arse-coverer. In the first task when Susan said that they needed to buy more ingredients (rightly, they made almost all of their money on the fruit salads and had run out of them by mid-afternoon) and Edna said no, she said "I put Edna in charge of the money and she says no, so no". That, to me, seemed like nothing so much as wanting to have someone she could blame for the failure of the task if they did, indeed, fail.
I saw the not wanting to get involved in bitching in pretty much the same light, to be honest. Hardly conclusive evidence, but I suspect that we'll see more of this kind of thing as the series progresses. |

I like her, when Susan was bitching/complianing about Edna last night in the car she was hoping that Melody and the other girl? would join in, but Melody was like "No I dont care, lets jsut get on with it".

I don't like her - she is so self-satisfied. The only reason Mel didn't join in with Susan's moan about Edna is because she seemed to agree with Edna's conclusion earlier. As for being trained by Al Gore, she probably attended an event where he happened to be speaking!

Deserving of a slap, by one of the girls, hope that Susie is the one who does it.

Think the term you are grasping for is "No sh*t Sherlock" to quote the Dali Lama or was that Desmond TuTu?

Although if she had bitched, I daresay you'd have criticised her for that, too.

Cant stand her. As some others have said on here her 'working' with people such as the Dalai Lama and Al Gore were probably just a half hour lecture at uni.

Or it could mean that having delegated a responsibility to Edna, she didn't want to undermine her by taking it back. She couldn't win.

What makes you say that?

Yeah she could.
Similarly if she'd joined in with the bitching session, she'd have have been criticised for that, too. What ever she did she'd have been criticised for it. In the second example I think she clearly took the better path. In the first example, it's more debatable, but we need to be careful that we aren't putting a negative interpretation on it because of a prior dislike. |

It seemed like a really stupid thing to do to me at the time, not to buy more stock when you're running out and have the money just sitting there doing nothing. And that was borne out in several ways as the episode progressed - firstly, they ran out of product before they ran out of customers to sell them to. Secondly, they made the vast majority of their profit on the fruit salads. These two points combined mean that investing more money in the fruit salads at the beginning, like Susan wanted to, would have shown them generating more profit. And, thirdly, they then got a dressing-down by Lord Surallen for not utilising all of their start-up money. Whatever way you slice it, not investing money in stock in favour of just letting it sit there doing nothing was a poor decision. It was not Edna's decision to make, it was Melody's, and I think that Melody deferred to Edna there in order to create a scape-goat should the venture fail. Either that or she's frighteningly weak-willed. Either way, it paints Melody in a bad light. Had she, as project manager, said "yes, go buy more stock", then I'd have been saying that she absolutely made the right decision. As for Edna, nothing anybody else could do would change my opinion of her, only how she herself acts. So far I think she's shown herself to be an idiot with a bizarrely inflated opinion of herself. Not by me. What I'm criticising her for there is that I don't think she's being honest. Had she bitched, I'd not have had a problem with it. Have you seen me criticising Susan for doing the bitching in the first place?Quote:

I don't dislike Melody at all. I quite like her, actually. That doesn't mean to say that I don't think she's an arse-coverer.Besides, if you recall, I very purposely ended my first post on this subject thusly: Quote:

Voice = "Clare in the community"
Melody's voice is exactly the "posh social worker" voice used by Sally Phillips in the Radio 4 sitcom Calre in the Community.
I cannot listen to her speak without cracking up !! http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b006qprs |
