Did you ever have a Pocket TV?

I had this one in the 90s.
And still seems to work just but not for much longer.

Its a Casio Pocket TV Model TV-770D.
Funny how now you can get better quality pictures from a mobile phone if signal is good.

And now have bigger screens.
I hope they get more popular again when the digital signals are stronger.

I can remember someone at school having one of those in the early 1990s. They brought it in to show off after their birthday!

They won't work where I live any more as analogue was turned off back in late 2009.

Kinda defeats the purpose as it's mains powered and you'd need to feed it with a Freeview STB.

My point was whoever buys these wants it for portable use out and about...not to be tethered to a mains supply.

I had one. Fantastic picture, but you needed a good signal, otherwise, having such a small screen, you couldn't see a thing. I've had a lot of Casio kit and it's all been good.

Seems like an OK price about what I got the pocket TV for back in the 90s may be that was even more.

Tried to see the football results on saturday on mine,impossible!!but did some serious DXing,got to places high up you could not go with a normal TV,on top of the Malvern Hills,picked up HTV,Anglia,Central,TVS,TSW,not bad eh?

My friend still has a Game Gear with TV add on. I managed to get a picture when I fired it up at Christmas, but no sound

Only a few months left of analogue now- DTT isn't very well suited to mobile reception, by comparison analogue generally gave you something, even if it was black and white and fuzzy.

A ten inch is a positive monster compared with the casio pocket tellys of old

And it's still going to struggle in many places without a decent aerial.

The yanks are developing a special type of ATSC for mobile viewing, but I think the UK is more likely to go the 3G/4G mobile route.

It’s an early attempt by Sony to do a pocket TV after the success of its “Walkman”.
It works off AA batteries and uses a small b&w CRT.
The reception is quite good off its whip aerial.
To save battery power the TV can be run with sound only.

I got the sinclair flat screen TV in 1985 made hear in Dundee!

also was given a cassio colour tv in the 90s which I used to watch the total eclipse in 1999 as it was totaly clouded out
the little tv meant I could see it

I have just recently got a 7inch LCD from maplin which can even record on to a SD card ! to replace the above now we have digital switch over

zero signal off the telescopic aerial, got a picture when connected to house aerial, but broke up badly even then

So not so portable, in fact almost in chocolate teapot territory

The Japanese have certainly sold some interesting kit over the years.

This seems to have been the first one - a portable with a 9" (23cm) screen, made by Sharp and sold in France in 1961.

i had the classic Casio 2.5in colour pocket tv, which needed 6 AAA's all at once. To be honest it didnt work very well here, but when we took it out and up on to the nearby hills the reception was fantastic on it, even with the aerial pushed down.
