Buffalo isn't too dissimar to beef and it is bred in the UK now.

I think it would generate a lot of interest for a month a year.

The major reason for it not happening is the cost. (I'm still a bit miffed that they got rid of the oval bun for the McChicken Sandwich )
That's why they have simple changes to their 'specials'.

Having just come back from America it's made me realise just how limited our menu is. I am jealous of the variety they have out there

I'm so bored with McDonald's. Their promotions are dull and everything tastes the same at least KFC and BK try to mix it up a bit now and then and just the same old nonsense.

Have mcds always charged drinks upgrades or is this new?
Noticed on sign that milkshake 40p extra. I think coffee and few others were extra too.

I havent noticed before but I'm not a frequent user.

Always been more to upgrade to a milkshake.

Not sure if the BBQ Smokehouse is part of the Great Tastes promotion but it is the latest special.

It's like the middle ground between a Quarterpounder with cheese and a Whopper, but with bacon and BBQ sauce instead of ketchup.

It was ok but doesn't really come close to a Whopper imo.

I don't know why I keep trying these specials - I never seem to be impressed

So it seems that "great tastes of America" is essentially the latest concoction of salt, sugar and fat with optional chilli powder.

I'm sure I've said this before but the only special I ever liked was the chicken one with nachos in. They've called it various things over the years but it's essentially a piece of chicken, Mayo, salsa, lettuce, nachos in a bun.

This latest thing don't look exciting. They did the chicken legend with BBQ sauce previously and I didn't rate that

This is not part of the Great Tastes of America promo. That finished earlier this year. It's just a normal Promotion.

The indian chicken one they did was nice. I'm not keen on the chicken legend either, it's a bit dry. The BK chicken tendercrisp is much better.

5 years since I started this thread and having just seen an email with details of the 2016 promotion, I think McD's have come close to actually cracking this.

This year they are only rotating 3 different burgers, with each burger on promo for 2 weeks instead of trying to have 4 or 5 different ones for a week only.

This cuts down the previous complaint of mine that there wasn't enough differentiation between the burgers. In some respects there still isn't, cheese and bacon still dominate but at least you can almost make a case that the burgers do relate to the region a bit better.
The other thing is they are all double burger 'stacks' where I think before all were just singles.

The first two weeks is a Tennessee BBQ stack, which has cheese, bacon and a BBQ sauce. Nothing groundbreaking admittedly, but at least Tennessee is a region associated with BBQ flavours.

The second burger is the New York Stack, the key element here is that it is served in a bagel, which is a typical NYC item. Again, the burger and toppings are fairly generic, but at least serving it in a bagel does give it some association with New York.

The third and final burger is a Tex Mex stack, this includes off the top my head a spicy jalapeņo cheese amongst other things. Somewhat more Tex Mex than the year they had Pepperoni as a Texas theme, because I can't for the life of me see why Pepperoni is connected especially to Texas.

I believe for the full 6 weeks a Buffalo Chicken Burger will be available, which sounds pretty good. For once, I can't really moan about this promo, if you read back through the thread it has been something that has annoyed me year after year ( within context)

Although it didn't annoy me I was a little disappointed with the variety and laziness of the previous offerings. As with you, they all seemed to be very similar (cheese bacon and different sauce) and had little connection to the associated place name.

Had the New York Stack last night.

The bun (bagel) felt stale, the burgers were dry, it was missing the coleslaw, there was a tiny amount of sauce and I had to add ketchup and BBQ sauce to make it palateable. Plus the fries were cold, soggy and unsalted.

Maybe I was just unlucky buying one at 10:30 at night.

And the girl who served me sneezed into her hand and didn't clean it.

If I hadn't been waiting nearly 10 minutes and wanting to get home I would have complained to her manager.

Was going to try the Tex-Rex stack tomorrow on my pay day treat but over 600 calories for just the burger I think I'll stick to the nuggets

I quite liked it, although I don't remember coleslaw being on it either, I didn't realise it should have been so I didn't really make much of it.

I hope they keep a defibrillator handy just in case.
