Getting my cat a new friend
FakeFlower

As some of you may remember my little Sylvie died in February leaving her sister Lola behind.
Well it's been a few months and Lola is doing really well (She's 13 months old now). However we've just about decided that she does need a friend to play with.
We're planning to head to the rescue centre tomorrow to look for a friend, but we'd really like some advice as to what to look for!!

Lola is a 13 month old girl, who got on well with her sister before she died.
Does anyone recommend a boy or a girl?

There is a girl on the rescue site who is 9 months old, and whilst it says she's a little shy it says she loves making friends with new cats. Sounds good to me, but I don't want to do anything that puts Lola out. This cat is a black cat like Sylvie was, which doesnt bother us because we love black cats and we know we're not replacing Sylvie. But it wont confuse Lola will it?

Any advice at all on introducing new cats welcome!!

Going through the same issue at the moment. My 20 year old female cat died a few weeks ago and my 4 year old male cat missed her but only for a few days"

He seems to prefer being the centre of attention and I'm not sure he even wants a new friend.

He is a big cat and I'm not sure what he would do to a newcomer.

This is a bit different, no deaths involved but I think getting my Elphie as a companion for Ruby was the best thing I ever did (Ruby was 1 1/2, now 3 1/2, had her from 10 weeks, then got Elphie at 8 weeks who is now 2). If cats are ever left alone it keeps them playing and stimulated and teaches certain little princesses that the world doesn't revolve around them I love having two girls and seeing them play together The 9 month old sounds great! Good luck xx
