Help!

I'll try and keep it simple!

I've got:
42 LCD LG TV
Virgin HD Box
Phillips Blu Ray Player
Samsung HT-C350 Home Cinema System

Ive just bought the Samsung 5.1 and want to check i've hooked it up the best way!

I have connected my Virgin HD Box to my TV with my HDMI ( as usual )
I have connected my Samsung 5.1 to the 2nd HDMI input on TV
I have connected my Samsung 5.1 to my Virgin HD box with an OPTICAL Cable

What do i do when i want to play Blu Rays? Ive only got 2 bloody HDMI inputs in back of my TV!!!!

Any advice appreciated.

TIA

How did you decide that the Samsung HT-C350 was the right thing for your needs?

Hi Chris,

I choose it because I wasnt looking for anything massive in term of W's and after speaking to the guy in the shop he suggested this, he said i could play my blu-ray through it and that it was suffice for what i wanted it for, which is mainly viewing blu-rays/dvds.

He said I could also use it with my Virgin HD Box, which i appreciate isnt going to be 5.1, but nonetheless, better than the standard speakers on my 42inch.

If you specifically said you wanted to use a Blu Ray and the Virgin box in surround sound via your system and were told the Samsung would allow that then either the guy in the shop was an idiot or doesn't know the specifications of the kit he is selling.

The Samsung in common with many of it's ilk does not have the connectivity to let you connect up several items of external kit. For what you want you should have been pointed towards something with either built in HDMI switching or at least two digital audio inputs.

You also did not need the DVD section in the Samsung as you have the Blu Ray. So a better solution would have been an amp and speaker system.

All in all I think you were badly advised and sold something that is inappropriate for your requirements. Trouble is something more suitable would probably cost a fair bit more than what you did buy.

Something like this would do everything you want and more.

Though whether £300 is in your budget is another thing. But it is a proper AV system at a very good price for what you get.

Or at a lower price this would perhaps have been a better all in one.

This has a Blu Ray player so yo could use that instead of the Phillips player. It has a digital audio input for the Virgin box so would solve your problems maybe?
