The Atkins Diet works for me. Calorie controlled diets make me feel ill. It does demand effort though and if you're not a reasonable cook it is likely to be boring.

![]() You could try going to www.weightlossresources.co.uk which is a paid for site, but you can try it out for 24 hours for free. You put it all in your details and it will tell you how much you should weigh and how many calories you should be having in a day. Plus you could fill in a food/exercise diary there for a typical day and it would let you how much you are taking in, so you can see if it is too little, or too much. HTH

You may be taking in too few calories by eating too little and exercising too much, as well as the extra calories needed for breastfeeding.

Slimming World worked for me. I lost 3.5 stone in less than a year. Healthy, filling food. It was a real eye opener for me. Kept it off too.

A balanced diet works. All others are just temporary.

I think you should not go on a weight reducing diet until you have stopped breast feeding. Just eat healthily with loads of fruit and veg meanwhile.

Atkins or Protein Power. Ideal - works with what a body needs, not against it.

Diets do not work, changing your lifestyle is the only way to go.
You say that you are still breastfeeding? But that you are active and eat healthily? Personally I would say that any lifestyle changes should wait until you have finished nursing. I would recommend that you keep a log of what you eat (www.myfitnesspal.com is a free online tool that allows you to log everything you eat). You may eat healthy food but it may be that your portions are too big. If you are very active you may be eating too few calories? As I say I'd not make any dramatic changes to your current lifestyle whilst you are still breast feeding. Out of interest - how much weight do you wish to loose? |

While breasfeeding your hormones and metabolism will be all over the place. I only lost weight when I stopped feedin , and without dieting I ended up lighter than I had ever been. |

I agree....wait till you stop breast feeding.
I have wiggled about for years doing Slimming World/ww and to be honest I`m finally realising they are all short fixes for most people. I have lost 4 stone with SW and put it back on stupidly. I am now consistently losing weight by moving my buttocks more and eating sensibly with smaller portions. I only eat carbs at breakfast......not for everyone I know but it works for me. Toast normally with a "little" butter....yes real butter and some marmalade. Roast beef or chicken or ham normally with salad for lunch and something with lots of veg or salad for dinner. Snacks will be fruit or yoghurt and lots and lots of water. I do have wine and either a treat or takeaway at the weekend. I know it`s not easy, I have struggled with weight for years, all my own doing. But I`m finally getting there I think. Good luck though it`ll come off when you stop feeding probably. |

If you go in with the mindset about dieting then you will only yo-yo. The only effective way to lose weight and keep it off is a lifestyle change. No secret and you don't need to join a club or pay anybody to prepare your meal. Eat a sensible diet with sensible portions and do some exercise.
There are thousands and thousands of web sites with information on sensible eating. Once you are in position to start losing the weight then aim for 1lb a week to be sensible and realistic. So 3 st is about a year to drop the weight allow for holidays and stuff were you spurge a bit. |

I think its more than just changing to healthy eating as healthy eating to one person is not healthy for another
If I eat carbs I get craving so bad I cant stop thinking about food or eating it, I then get depression and IBS and sleep for England If I eat very low carb I'm never hungry have a ton of energy no IBS and feel very happy on a few hours sleep. |

Diets do not work, changing your lifestyle is the only way you can lose weight and keep it off.
I followed a low GI Plan years ago and lost 3 stone - by liberally following the principles I kept off some of the weight ![]() I would suggest that you look at your current eating habits? You may want to keep a food diary for a week and see where you can make improvements? My Fitness Pal is a free site that allows you to log all the calories you eat in a day. I actually use the diary as a planner - I plan my meals in advance and also use it as a tool to make substitutions... For example if I can see that 60g of pasta is 220cals I can make the switch to 200g of new potatoes for 140 cals. It is anal weighing your food (I do it only with carbs in my evening meal) BUT portion control was my downfall. Also make sure you don't skip meals, drink plenty of water, you take regular exercise etc.. I have also cut back on sugar, alcohol, processed food, take aways etc.. I cook from scratch as much as possible and use lean meat. I bulk up on veg or salad with my lunch / dinner. |
