HDR upgrade path
So I currently have loader 7.51 and firmware 1.00.13 and I'm looking to upgrade to 1.0015.
I've downloaded the update from the beta site, and renamed the file as per the instructions, but I get the error E-HF, which I believe means incorrect/invalid format. I've deleted and downloaded again, but I get the same fault. So I thought that maybe the new firmware isn't compatible with my outdated loader, so I went to download 7.53. Having renamed the loader according to the instructions, I get the upgrading screen, but the progress bar doesn't move from 0%, even after waiting near on ten minutes. So my question is, do I need to upgrade from 7.51 to 7.52, and then to 7.53, or should I be able to upgrade from 7.51 to 7.53? |

What size memory stick are you using?
Seems to work best with the smallest one possible e.g. 1Gb Automan. |

Ah, it's a 32Gb stick. Im sure I've got an old 256mb stick somewhere, I've lost my window of opportunity now, as the wife is here watching TV now, but I'll try that later.
Many thanks. |

Getting stuck, I think, means the Humax is not recognising the memory stick or other USB device. I don't have any memory sticks but I have the equivalent with USB card readers. I tried all three that I own with a 2Gb SD card (same one) plugged in. It must be so...s law that I experienced that same as you on the first two I tried, but the third one it started loading instantly and performed the update.
The strange thing is that all 3 are recognised by the Humax as external USB drives, but when performing the update only one was recognised. It must be more fussy when upgrading (perhaps a different bit of code in the loader?) So, keep trying other devices. If you have any USB SD or SDHC card readers and a small SD capacity card, this might be something you could try? |

You might try reformatting the stick. (Must be FAT32) The file must be in the root folder and be named as described (Inclusive of case). There should be no need to update the loader (unless you are using multiple satellites). The stick needs to be in the front USB socket.

Make sure that windows is not set to hide file extensions (the default). It's easy to finish up with xxxx.hdf.hdf

Thanks all.
A smaller pen disk solved the problem, now running 7.53/1.00.15 |
