I just had an OMG moment...

3 O'clock in the morning and I can't sleep so I just put TIA on again - for about the tenth time and suddenly realised that I've eaten in the diner where they meet the Doctor and I've walked through that door where he came in with his "adds fizz" straw - that's the door to the toilets.

I can't believe I didn't recognise it straight away - it's pretty distinctive.

It's actually Eddie's American Diner in Cardiff - on Mermaid Quay. It really looks like that - except for the bar-stools, if I remember correctly. If you sit outside, the seats are made to look like American cars (rather like the one the Doctor had) and the grub is burgers and such like. If you visit Cardiff, it's only a couple of hundred yards from the supposed Torchwood hub's location outside the Milleniun Centre.

I've been to a few places where they filmed - Skenfrith is just down the road (upper Leadworth in the show) - beautiful picture-postcard village with the caste ruins - and I go to Cardiff quite a bit so I often recognise building and locations seen in DW and Torchwood but that's the first time I've recognised something like a particular cafe where I've sat and had dinner a year or so before they used it as a location.

I know it's silly but that's just made my day

I used to be the manager of a store called Spencer Gifts in St Davids Centre in Cardiff, we sold loads of stock to Eddies Diner when it first opened, everything from bubblegum machines to LED Pictures of American images and icons and lots of other stuff.

Oh and I didn't recognise it, but you are right

It is Eddie's Diner. I compared it to a Facebook picture of our lot there (sitting by a picture of a red car) and it's definitely the place (albeit slightly rearranged).

I was thrilled to see one of our lecture theatres used doubling as NASA

In the End of Time part 1, the cafe Ten and Wilf sit down in is the Kardomah Café in Swansea (I should know, I was there watching it being filmed). My branch of HSBC became the 'London Credit Bank' next door

Some of the library shots in 'Silence in the Library' were Swansea's olde central library where I did my work experience (now it's an art centre for Swansea Met Uni).
