Sometimes when my Foxsat HDR is recording a conflict message appears and looking at the list of channels available shows most are greyed out. As I understand it with twin cable connection I should be able to record any two channels and even watch a third at the same time. I have checked my dish alignment and cable connections with another receiver and also 'diagnostics' menu shows both receivers are getting 100% signal. Can anyone point me in the right direction please.

Start an instant recording on BBC1-HD, start a second on BBC-HD. Tune to any other channel and check you can pause live TV. If this works both tuners are working correctly.

Run time conficts ocurr when the end of one programme overuns the start of another that is scheduled to use same tuner. ITV are the worst offenders as the AR stop times are at the end of the adverts at the end of the programme (the start of the next programme). If the conflict message has an iTV programme due to finish it's usually safe to elect to cancell that recording.

Thanks for replying. I am able to simultaniously record BBCOneHD and BBCHD but then the majority of channels are greyed out. I can get some eg ITV2 which can be paused etc. If I record just one channel on its own eg ITV1Wales, then likewise most of the other channels are unavailable at that stage. By the way I forgot to mention I live in an area with a Carmarthen postcode. Do you think its my tuner?

I'd try a Factory Reset: press Menu -> Setup -> Factory Reset, as it sounds like it's stuck in single tuner mode. At the start of the reset process you should see a message indicating if it's detected one or two LNB feeds. If it were to detect a single feed at that point, then you'd want to check the connections etc.

You'll need to make a note of any scheduled recordings before you do this though, as the timer list will get wiped when you do this and you'll need to reinstate them afterwards. Recordings on the drive don't get affected though.

Thanks mjr. The factory reset revealed a one cable connection (although it was showing two signals on the diagnostics screen previously) Opening up my toolbox and replacing all connectors on the twin cable restored a two cable connection and everything seems to be hunky dorey. Must have been intermittent though because both cables drove my old sat receiver when I originally tested for a faulty cable by substitution. Anyhow its good to discuss and solve a problem. Thanks also to mr thomson.

You aren't by any chance using one of the earlier fitmwares ?. There was a bug that showed a signal on tuner 2 even if it wasn't connected.

You have the latest firmware apart from the just released V1.00.15. Odd that you had two signals. Did you by any chance commission the box with only one cable and add the second later ?

Correct! We originally had a single LNB with one cable and the loop across the other two sockets. But we replaced it with a quad lnb and dual coax ages ago.

That's why you were in single cable mode When you add the extra connection you either have to change a setting in one of the secret menus or do a factory reset otherwise the box will assume the second tuner is still fed from lnb1 out. Mystery solved

Thanks Graham. Feel like a bit of a numpty! Anyhow glad to have it sorted out.
I'm very interested in the 'secret menus' you mention, but can't seem to find much relevant to the HDR by searching. Can you give me a starter to find out more please.

As you were. Just looked under 'hidden menu' and found all I needed. Thanks again
