BT i didnt wanna say goodbye but your making me!
Well as the title says, im leaving BT but it isnt my choice. Im moving home, and my new house is wired for BT as well as Virgin. I rang BT Thursday to tell them i was moving and i would like to take all my services with me, Phone BB and BTvision.
This is where my nightmare begins. 1) I was told its a £150 line activation fee 2) I was told i would have to pay £98 for disconnection of current services 3) I was told im breaking my contract early. Im not in contract with BT had all services for at least 3 years. Ive tried the BT socket at new house and its live (phone gives a continuous tone ie no such number) BT also say the line at my new house isnt suitable for vision as the line speed isnt fast enough, according to BT's own speedchecker my new line is faster than my current one! Then when i popped to the new house yesterday morning there is a package left in the neighbours for me of a shiny new home hub. BUT im not going to BT i refuse to pay the extortionate rates for what they want, even though ive been a very loyal customer. So Bye Bye BT hello Virgin... Its a shame though cos i really like my BT vision and never had any problems with my Broadband.

Hi teletv
I have just seen your post and would like to look into this for you as some of the information you have been given does not sound correct as if you were moving your services over to a new property there should not be any cancellation charges unless you were dropping some of the services you had with us but in your post you have mentioned you were moving all. If you send me your details via http://bt.custhelp.com/app/contact_email/c/4950 I will gladly look into this for you Regards David |

Hi, im sorry for not getting back to you earlier, but i am FUMING with BT now, ive just had my BB bill Im supposed to be option one, but ive been billed for option 3. I pay my BB quarterly and now im expected to pay monthly (yes my BTvision is paid monthly by DD) but now they want it monthly, the indian call centre is NO help at all.... so frankly im washing my hands of BT. If i ever move service providers i will NEVER go back to BT. The thing that bothers me most is that i have been a BT customer for 10 years. So sorry BTSupport... but im gone. BT was the Rolls Royce of telecoms.... Now it seems its more like a Robin Reliant.

Being with them for 10 years or 20 years makes no difference, they still treat you like rubbish. To be fair, Bt are not the only ones, Talk Talk is just as bad, a few years back Bulldog customer service was awful, fantastic broadband by all accounts, but lousy customer service. |

I couldn't wait to ditch BT. Overpriced rip-off merchants.

Yeah, the £17 a month I pay for broadband and Vision Gold package is a rip off.
![]() Bt is not that cheap, never have been and never will be, there is some catch in it, you will pay more at some point and no doubt Bt have now got you in their over the top long contract. Bt have got worse since they had their packages, you can't even get just broadband unless you ring them and then they want to use their phone service and even when you do have one of their so called cheap packages, you end up in a 18 month contract. Pathetic, BT are to scared to offer a decent package without a long contract, no wonder they are losing customers and the only way to save money is by getting rid of workers. |

How long is that £.9.99 for, I thought Bt got rid of the FUP on option 3? Normally Option 3 is £25 a month, or it was before Bt started to bring their packages only service to the market. I bet if I wanted that package you got I would not get it for that price. It seems like BT give their old customers offers for s while, which is fine i don't mind that and they should give their loyal customers something, but they seem to scare away new customers. Bt should remember people got a lot more choice now, even in our city, we can get Sky T.v and their LLU broadband. We can get Talk Talk, if anyone wants to go with that waste of time company We got orange, but it seems like Orange is not using the LLU system for some reason. Then Cable and Wireless, which I am on. Other places have far more, and they are all better priced than BT. |

The FUP has gone (they still shape p2p and probably always will) but the price is ok compared to Virgins Fibre with similar speeds e.g Virgins up to 30meg is 28.50 per monthh WITHOUT a phone line, I know with bundles etc. that can be reduced like any firm, but BT's Fibre isn't as expensive as some people make out, I used to be with BE (excellent isp may I add) and was paying around £18 per month for around 9 meg I get more than triple that now for £7 extra a month so for me it was easily worth it

That is either a offer that last for 3 months and then the price goes up or you are using the basic broadband with limited use.

Option 3, £10 a month for 12 months. Works for me.
Shaped broadband works for my needs, any downloads are done off peak. 3D....yawn, new overpriced telly and looking like a blues brothers tribute act? No thanks. All those praising BT are getting discounts in xs of 60% on their broadband! (good for them) lol... |

Even the discounted packages aren't good.! Sky has more than it's own fair share of old repeated content - there's also alot of channels dedicated to broadcasting that kind of content. But just like BTVision you just watch something else if it's not your bag. Not difficult Correct, BT doesnt do instantly viewable HD or 3D content but it's there to view without a subscription. With Sky - to view HD content you need to pay an extra £10.25 per month ontop of whatever you happen to be paying. But more importantly to watch the latest films in HD (Sky movies HD for example) you need to have a minimum sub of approx £70 per month, this includes all entertainment packs. And to watch 3D content you need to have an eye watering minimum sub of approx £81 per month. Ouch !!!. Both prices of course include Sky BB Unlimited & Sky line rental. Oh and you still pay a sub to watch adverts and no iplayer either. |

according to BT (I've just rung and asked) 'traffic management' when envoked is envoked on all traffic, not just p2p.

the 300gb was a limit before traffic shaping came in, it was never "capped" it was removed in April it hasn't been 100gb for (over 10 months) and BT wholeheartedly admit that they shape P2P traffic which I don't have a problem with so you are either using very very poor informants or you just can't get your facts straight either way you are so far off the mark its ridiculous PG, they have upgraded their sytems so they don't need the 300gb trigger anymore

When I was with BT (the bad old days) my BB was 'shaped' mercilessly. I opted for Option 3 because I was told it was 'unlimited'.
My main use was Skype (which is P2P technically), I made lots of video calls. It became impossible to use until after midnight. One of the many reasons to leave, no such problems now... |
