ITV1 zooms into a particular demographic on weekday mornings and does ok with this approach. Vile Kyle does nothing for credibility though.

Although I expect it will really dent the potential audience for Scott & Bailey, it seems really late for the Pirates movie to start. That puts BBC News at 11.20pm that night. Which is as late as I can ever remember it being.

I assume they're trying to give Britain's Got Talent an established slot to start the week. Coronation Street won't suffer from Monday onwards considering the sandwich it's part of.

Apart from that one. Which is kind of a given, since it's a one-off live event.

Maybe the original plan was to show Egypt on the Sunday and Pirates on the (Bank Holiday) Monday but the BBC swapped them round when they saw how brilliantly Pirates 1 did this weekend. Pirates 2 will do better against Scott And Bailey (complimentary schedule) that it would against BGT (audience overlap).

Watchdog and Inside The Human Body both finish on Thursday 26th May so they could have put a film on as a filler the following week instead of bloody Traffic Cops.

I'm not sure it will. Pirates 1 did brilliantly on Sunday but Pirates 2 is a much weaker film and has never rated as well. The premiere had over 3m less than Pirates 1's premiere despite a similar Boxing Day slot. Also, the new film will have been out for a week and a half so it won't benefit from people catching up before they see the new one. I'm thinking 4-5m for Pirates 2 in that slot, particularly as last time it was screened it barely broke 3m against Heartbeat and Taggart.

As for BGT, I've already said I don't like the schedule for the live shows, but I wonder how they'll do this year. They won't do as well as they could have done an hour later but they were really unlucky last year as Corrie had to be pulled after two nights, which also dented BGT's results. Also, it was probably one of the hottest weeks of the year, which really dented the performance shows, especially towards the end of the week. Maybe their luck will be a bit better this year.

Home Is Where The Heart Is isn't that bad. ITV have made lots of tacky, pathetic excuses for documentaries in the last couple of years but this isn't one of them. The concept sounds hideous on paper but it is actually quite thought-provoking and hard hitting. A shame about the ratings for it last week but I can't say I'm surprised as the concept will have put a lot of people off and then clashing with The Apprentice in the Tuesday flopzone just killed it completely.

I was hoping for Castle to move to Wednesdays at 10pm or at least switch with Body of Proof. Castle already has its fanbase audiences and their "companion novel" (Naked Heat by Richard Castle) is doing quite well. Then again, if CBS decides to keep The Good Wife at the same timeslot, then it was a good decision to keep BoP there.

I agree with sn_22 that having three dramas on Sundays is a risky and brave business. I doubt they need to make a huge first impression (since they are up against Sunday Night Football), but good enough to have a healthy audience. For Once Upon a Time and Pan Am, at minimum or around 3.5 for their premiere and at least or around 2.5 to 3 for its regular audiences. Desperate Housewives will need to do some serious revamp and storyline improvement, if they want to be a big lead-in for Pan Am. DH's 2009-10 audiences were actually strong in fall (getting mid to high 4's) and passably good in midseason, considering the competition at the time (they generally received around mid-3's to a 4 by season finale, they did peak at 5.3 in January 2010, few weeks before the awards kicked in). DH's 2010-11 audiences were lower than that (mid 3's to 4 in fall, mid 2's to mid 3's in midseason).

Charlie's Angels is most likely a self-starter, considering its hype and profile, like C14E said. I predicted that it would be at Thursdays at 8pm, as soon as I heard it was picked up. Charlie's Angels is the third consecutive remake series on that timeslot for ABC, following Ugly Betty (2006-09, moved to Fridays then Wednesdays in 2009-10 season) and My Generation (premiered in fall 2010, cancelled after 2 episodes). It should attract excellent numbers for its pilot episode. After that, it should be interesting. Hawaii 5-0 reboot on CBS managed to stay consistent, despite losing steam throughout its run.

Since Extreme Makeover: Home Edition is moved to Fridays (predicted that also, since Secret Millionaire got better results), would that mean they can still expect renewal only at a 1.4?

I think they've just been reading these forums, tbh. It would be like BBC1 ordering X Factor when Simon Cowell left Pop Idol. I just can't see it happening.

Originally I ruled out Channel 4. But given how desperate they are for a hit and the fact that they long stopped caring about their original remit, I'd not be too surprised.

The Royal Wedding on 29th April between the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge marked the highest television audience of 2011 so far with a peak audience of 26.3m viewers and 36.7m viewers in total watching some part of the wedding coverage. Coverage ran across 12 BARB reported channels (including +1s) capturing the arrival of the bride, groom and guests, the ceremony and subsequent procession back to Buckingham Palace and culminating in the now traditional balcony kiss.

The ceremony itself running from approximately 11am to 12:10pm achieved an average audience of 26.0m viewers, it’s peak of 26.3m viewers was at 11:08am, when the Duchess of Cambridge reached the altar.

BBC1 (SD & HD) saw the largest audience for the ceremony with 18.9m compared to 5.9m for ITV1 (SD & HD). All other channels accounted for 1.2m viewers cumulatively. Across Total TV, the Royal Wedding ceremony held a 91.2% audience share.

The wedding of William and Catherine was the first Royal Wedding to be broadcast in high definition. 12.3% (3.2m) of the average audience viewed the ceremony via an HD service.

In addition to the live coverage, various highlights programmes were shown throughout the day for those who missed the event. Not including News programming, a total of 36.7m individuals (64% of all individuals) watched some part of the Royal Wedding Coverage

It was almost impossible to avoid and believe me I really tried. On the night I turned over to Sky Sports News and they used the Beckhams being there as an excuse to show footage of the wedding ceremony.

I think C4 & BBC would be best off avoding The Voice, unless they can seriously pitch it as a socailogical experiment, like C4 did the first seires of Big Brother, and then not air it again afterwars.

Hannity didn't show on Friday and MSNBC shows didn't do repeats. The Ed Show wasn't on Friday either. That's positive for averages because Friday numbers tend to be lower.

At 11pm, Anderson Cooper's 264,000 average for his second hour topped the O'Donnell repeat comfortably. Indeed, from 10pm-1am, CNN beat MSNBC - if they could just do it in primetime now! While Maddow's midnight audience is just over 40% of her 9pm audience, Hannity's is 61% and Morgan's is 94%.

The drop from 7pm to 8pm is probably causing concern at CNN. I wonder if they'd like to move AC360 to 8pm then put Piers at 10pm?

Is it really wrong that I think Rachel Maddow is hot? at least she is doing better than Piers Morgan, who I in no way find attractive.

I thought about this a few weeks ago, and its probably what I'd do. I'm sure Piers would do better at 10 and they need to think of something to get rid of In the Arena - because those numbers are dire.

I don't think they will though - it would be an awfully big step to put such a "newsy" show into the heat of battle against O'Reilly, Hannity, Maddow. etc. But then again, maybe CNN ought to just try and get back to basics here. The one big selling point they have over the competition is their credibility as a "proper" news network. Putting AC360 into the centre of primetime would at least reaffirm that distinction.

By my (not entirely scientific!) calculations, this has been the worst season for US networks in years. 36 new scripted shows have been broadcast - 2 more are due to be burned off.

Of 12 new scripted series (2 unbroadcast) just 1 made the cut at NBC (8% hit rate, down from 2/5 = 40% last year). At ABC it was 2 out of 9 (22%, down from 36% last year). At FOX it was 2 out of 5 (40%, down from 43%). At CBS it was 3 out of 8 (38%, up from 33%).

Overall, the success rate stands at 24%. The accepted trend (and borne out by statistics) is that one third of shows will succeed.

The best of the "hits" would be Hawaii Five-O and Mike & Molly. A poor haul vs last season which brought Modern Family, Glee, NCIS:LA and The Vampire Diaries. Of course, The Voice has been a stand-out on the unscripted side this season.

The flops were more spectacular this season - Lonestar, The Whole Truth and My Generation really set the tone in premiere week with <1.5 launch numbers. Lonestar in particular was a surprise.

3 new network bosses (NBC, ABC, CW) are looking to make their mark with some ambitious new series although scheduling moves have generally been fairly cautious so far. One trend seems to be that there's more being held over for midseason. Large orders from NBC and ABC mean that there are 44 scripted shows (by my count!) due next season - the highest for many years.

On the studio side, Warner Bros lead the pack with 11 - including 3 co-productions at their CW network. They have a sitcom at every one of the big 4 networks. They also have Person of Interest (CBS) and Alcatraz (FOX) both from JJ Abrams.

Sony - traditionally the smaller studio - still trails in terms of numbers. But it has high profile projects Pan Am and Charlie's Angels at ABC as well as Unforgettable at CBS and The Firm at NBC.

Universal Media Studios (8), ABC Studios (7) and CBS Studios (7) all stayed "in-house" with CBS co-producing 3 CW projects with WB.

20th Century FOX is the only other to make shows for other networks. It'll make Apartment 23 & Last Man Standing for ABC and The Playboy Club and Awake for NBC. In addition to 6 projects set up at FOX.
