Doctor Who pretty steady week-on-week. It seems like moving it to a later slot mid-series hasn't really helped it get more viewers compared to episodes which aired earlier on. Maybe all the scheduling changes every week has meant a lot of viewers have just decided to record the show no matter what, even if episodes are shown at a more convenient time. Considering Casualty partly went up against Britain's Got Talent for the first time this series (I think), it did pretty well, as the rating is similar to how it was doing when away from BGT, although that was with a SYTYCD lead-in rather than Lottery lead-in like last night. Poor once again for SYTYCD, ratings for it down last night compared to the previous week. Not great for BBC1 in late-peak, they were missing MOTD yesterday and the replacements didn't do particularly well.

Looks like Britain's Got Talent rebounded well compared to last week, as you'd expect. For the first time this series, last night's rating was actually up year-on-year (even if you exclude +1) so it's a good rating. Sing if You Can has surprised many people on here - yesterday's episode was mostly up against Doctor Who, which is probably as tough a competition it can have, and yet it still managed over 4m. The series averaged 4.0m (20%), it might get another shot although as I said last week I don't think it'd be able to hold up well on its own without BGT airing after it. But they could bring it back in the same slot I suppose. Decent for Life Stories, but the series as a whole hasn't rated particularly well with most ratings at the 4m mark. It's okay but not great.

Good night for ITV, pretty poor for BBC1 with the exception of Casualty it has to be said. I might get walloped for this, but I think we should stop staying Doctor Who is 'appointment to view' television, when it isn't. The 5.7m figure from last night I'm guessing works out at between 4.5m and 5.0m watching it 'live'. That's good yes, but appointment to view it is not.

I'm not saying its figures are bad, they're not, I just think appointment to view television is the wrong phrase for it. So You Think You Can Dance's ratings justify the slot change, now definitely in the 'Flops of 2011' list.

Digital Spy I think will be tape-checking Britain's Got Talent rating as it ended early looking at the breakdown. Sing if You Can will be recommissioned, raw figures are not great, however the 16 to 34 figure will almost certainly get ITV to recommission.

Does anyone reckon that sytycd is helping bgt, even though the different time slots, to me it feels like there is more default bgt viewers this year, getting their entertainment fix, from the only decent place,

I don't think Britain's Got Talent will be tape-checked, as it finished about 20:58 last night. It started a little early but I'm not sure if it was early enough for DS to tape-check it from 19:55 onwards - I suspect not. The last quarter might've rated worse than the previous quarter because there were two sets of ad breaks in the last 15 minutes instead of one (a break before the last part and a few ads after the end of the show).

According to attentional it started at 19.58 and ran for 61 minutes. So surely that would mean it won't be tape-checked?

BGT did well last night and I thought it wasn't as good as last weeks. Good that it's up y-o-y though.

Awful for SYTYCD and it definitely won't be returning now. DW is definitely suffering from being the sandwich, but even so it seems a bit low. Casualty did OK considering it started during BGT and I don't see why they couldn't have moved everything back 15 mins, because surely it's more important Casualty avoids BGT, opposed to SYTYCD. Quite worrying Casualty hasn't made the 5m mark in a while considering its previous episodes haven't aired against BGT, but BBC1's strength on a Saturday seems to be the dramas picking up huge timeshifts.

Nice rebound for BGT and SIYC is very stable even against DW & considering the extended length last night. Bit better for Piers too.

Quite a low night all round for Ch5. The repeats normally perform better than that and the new NY episode should be a little bit higher. You could tell from last nights episode that they were gearing themselves up for a complete ending if it wasn't recomissioned.

what were the 2 badly rated shows sandwiching Primeval, as I think it was better than sytycd rating, maybe then we should compare dr whos ratings

Seems like a good solid high 5m - low 6m tune in every week by the looks of things lately. It's just that last 5m that drag the average down. should timeshift over 7m again.

Embarassing for the BBC that SYTYCD was neck and neck with 'Do the Funniest Things'

Don't Scare the Hare only got 1.5m and damaged BBC1's image in the process. It still features on the trailers, even though it airs mid afternoon rather than on 'Saturday night'

Des O'Connor looks like he was a draw for many viewers. BGT unsurprisingly bounced back showing last week's rating was nothing to worry about.

SYTYCD is now officially a ratings disaster for BBC1. Not only is it getting unacceptably piss poor ratings, it is damaging the whole evening, and killing Doctor Who. For DW to be getting a 6m overnight (actual airtime) whilst book-ended by a 24 carat sub-3m rated flop is quite impressive really.

God alone knows what massive ratings the BGT Final and the CL Final are going to be gifted because of this millstone round BBC1's neck.

SIYC was obviously lifted by the 75 minute padded-out version and the obvious fact that it was inflated big-time post-DW as people flipped over ready for BGT in its last half hour. Be interesting to see the DW/SIYC head-to-head breakdown. I'd expect DW to have won that nearly 2 to 1, with SIYC then being 5-6m in the final 30 mins lifting its overall average.

BGT obviously rallied with no Eurosong, but it was still a sub-10m overnight figure (I guess c9.5m as the instant repeat on ITV1+1 always rates well) as we get close to the climax. No great "mo" yet.

Good on the BBC for delivering value for taxpayers by (a) continuing to "air the Hare" having paid for it rather than simply pulling it and (b) not wasting money junking its Saturday night trailer/bumper graphics and producing some new ones...

You'd be the first to moan about the waste of money if they'd done otherwise...

Im pretty sure it will timeshift well over 7m. Ratings this series have been on a par and often higher than previous series.

I agree with timeshift DW is still getting decent ratings, probably on a par with Emmerdale. Also the stories are gaining in quality and excitement after a slow, geekish first episode.
However, I think it's time the BBC axed SYTYCD. It just isn't performing.

Last week's Doctor Who episode (14/5/11) which had an overnight of 6.09m has timeshifted to 7.97m.

Good rating for BGT last night. The increase from last week was hardly surprising but they'll be pleased to see it hit 10m, and the growth from the same episode last year is good stuff too. So far this series is averaging 9.7m, so is therefore down 5% from last year, when it was averaging 10.2m after 6 episodes. Taking everything into account that's pretty good going, and I suspect the decline will shrink to 4% next week as I think it'll do better next Sunday than the final audition show got last year. The live shows are another matter but so far, so good.

Doctor Who continues to perform well and that'll be another 7.5-8m with timeshift, which is excellent. SYTYCD really is a turkey. This was supposed to be BBC1's big Spring Saturday night entertainment show, Nigel Lythgoe and Cat Deeley have flown in from LA to do it and it's Arlene Phillips' big comeback gig after Strictly but it really has been a disaster. It rated solidly enough last year so I doubt anyone saw this coming. Still, only 3 weeks left. SIYC did reasonably well, but I'm not sure if it deserves to come back as it would probably struggle without BGT (mid-3s probably). They could do worse than bring it back in the same slot next year though., although I gather it isn't the cheapest of entertainment shows so that may work against it. The series has averaged 4.1m overall so it's worth looking at anyway. OK for Life Stories - 4.4m is a decent result but like SIYC it would struggle without BGT and this series hasn't rated that well, averaging 3.9m overall (Prescott's episode dragged it down). Unlike SIYC it is very cheap though so it'll be back (already recommissioned I think) but it'd be a waste of a good slot to air it after X Factor again in the Autumn.

Fantastic timeshift for Doctor Who, it really is in a league of it's own regarding timeshifting. BGT timeshifted well too and actually ended up ahead of Eurovision with +1 and very close to it without +1, despite Eurovision being over a million ahead in the overnights. The Apprentice did brilliantly too.

EDIT: DS has some more ratings from last night. The one that stands out to me is 893k (incl +1) for a repeat of Thursday's Celebrity Juice! That means that across the two screenings this week's episode has got ~2.9m, which will be comfortably above 3m in the officials, and with another repeat on Monday the total official audience will be in the 3.5-4m range, which is hugely impressive, and will be making ITV a lot of cash as it skews so young.

DW getting 7.97 m viewers, that puts it up with the big two soaps. This must really hack off its many enemies who predicted it was dying( Garry Bushell in particular hates it) and Matt Smith was rubbish.
However, I think the BBC should cut its losses and axe that expensive dud SYTYCD.

So, 4.35pm is mid-afternoon but the initial slot of 5.25pm was Saturday night?
