I really hope it doesn't end up on Fridays, as so many entertainment shows have died there. I'm not sure about Sundays as Born To Shine is apparently airing there once Popstar To Operastar ends and Single-Hnaded will probably take over from Scott and Bailey, so Thursdays look most likely. I think that'll give it at least a chance of doing well as it'll have a good lead in and the competition won't be too fierce. I'm still dubious as to whether it'll work but they may as well give it a chance at least.

If we are talking about channel 5 and second run rights, may I (again) suggest Cold Case, would fit in very well with CSI on Five USA, and there is still a final season, we have not seen on Sky 3 (now Pick TV)

US ratings for later today could be interesting. Not only is the American Idol season finale likely to post significant gains, but Glee should post its best numbers for months with the season finale airing after Idol. There's also the Dancing With The Stars finale. Plus The Voice could pick up again with The Biggest Loser finale as a lead-in. CBS aired season finales last week.

I'm thrilled that C5 have secured the rights to Castle, another one of the hottest shows on US TV. Frankly it's been wasted on Watch up to now. In Australia it holds its own on the main commercial broadcaster over there (Seven). I think it will be a great addition to the lineup.

And although The Mentalist always repeats well, it will probably benefit from the break.

If the preliminary numbers are anything to go by, Dancing With The Stars should be up 15-20% compared with last year, Idol should be flat or perhaps a touch down in the demo compared to last year and a bit lower than the last couple of weeks, which is a tad surprising (maybe the change of day caught a few out). Glee looks flat year-on-year whilst The Biggest Loser looks about 10-15% down on last year but higher than the last few weeks, whilst The Voice dipped a bit again.

Obviously these are just preliminary numbers and often aren't that good an indicator of the actual numbers, but it does seem as though The Voice is losing momentum and the 10pm slot is hurting it. They should have left it at 9pm or even put it at 8pm. AGT will boost it a bit next week but I'm not sure how the 2 hour shows will do as it's lost steam since the last 2 hour shows. On the other hand the competition will be minimal (I bet DWTS dented it last night). When it returns in January they should have more blind auditions as those are probably going to be the most popular stage of the competition.

It's a site not dissimilar to this thread, with a thread each day with the raings from the previous night as well as the daily column with the preliminary numbers. Also, each show has it's own page with ratings for most if not all series.

Wow for Geordie Shore, surely that's one of the highest rated show on MTV ever? I don't recall MTV ever breaking 300k in a while!

According to Wikipedia it's going to Alibi first in July.

It's not the highest rated ever. The Osbournes used to do 400-500k back in the day.

But certainly for MTV's recent standards, it's a very good rating.

Hmm even if it halves, its higher than Jersey Shore, which is quite shocking, above 200k average would be an impressive result and probably make it the highest rated show on the channel in 2011. So even if there's a large drop, it will still in ratings terms, be higher than most.

Incl +1 it was 345,000, and according to this article it was the highest MTV programme since BEFORE 2006.

So by my reckoning, Idol had ~21m and ~6.0-6.5 18-49 demo last night. Compared to the same show last year, that would be up in total viewers (19.6m last year) but as you've said, maybe slightly down in the actual demo (6.6). The Voice looks to have got roughly a 4.0 18-49 demo last night - still a strong rating for NBC but as you've mentioned it's down once again (4.5 last week). The confirmed ratings in the next hour might confirm this. Idol's ratings are a bit weird this year - what's caused the big surge in viewers aged over 49 but not replicated among 18-49s?

CSI: Miami could be later than normal this year. C5 have announced they will be screening the fans' 10 favourite CSI episodes on Tuesday nights once this season finishes. Unless these are going at 10pm, which I doubt with Big Brother arriving late July according to some sources.

As for CSI Miami, 10 weeks is a long time to delay, I hope they dont keep us waiting for CSI Miami, their is really no reason for them to do so.

Still not starting for 10 weeks, gives me a bit of breathing room, Lead Balloon will have finished by then, Angry Boys will also be almost done, BBC 3 wont be able to double up for long, as it will soon catch up with ABC.

Haha, fair enough! I wasn't following the ratings back then either, but BARB have ratings data for MTV and other channels going back to around the late 90s, quite a useful site for that kind of info if you're interested.


I think the main issue affecting its retention next week is going to be the number of repeats. Two of the four repeat slots generously offered by MTV are at 10pm.

But it would have to drop a hell of a lot to unimpress MTV when they seem perfectly happy with ratings of 40-60k tops in primetime most nights...

I think it will continue to rate well for them, and probably stay north of the 200k mark for a few weeks yet.

I wish we could get regional breakdowns of ratings as I bet over 75% of those figures were from the north east. The same would have happened with Manchester shore, scouse shore, brummie shore (hmmm maybe not that one )

There does seem to be an issue in terms of how they're going to fit Miami in this year. Maybe it's going to be moved to Saturdays. Otherwise on Tuesdays they won't be able to fit the whole season in by Christmas if there are 10 more weeks of Vegas to come.

Big Brother, as exciting a prospect as it is for the channel, certainly complicates the traditionally simple and fixed scheduling of the US dramas on C5.

Could be double episodes for 5 weeks then CSI: Miami takes over in July. Miami runs up to December so a late June/early July start sounds about right,

As for Castle, good pick up although I imagine it's Season 1 and 2 as Castle Season 1 was only 10 episodes.

Is it on Watch? The Sky EPG has it as 'new and exclusive' on Alibi.

Last week it was Alibi's top rated show.
