Charnham it does seem like you and Robbie don't like ITV Even more then some other posters. well this is a question to both of you really what do ITV Have to do to make you like and praise their channels?
bring back Dexter for one.

Also its not fair to say that I dont like ITV, as I do watch a very small amount of ITV 1, TV Burp & Primeval being two such shows, & keep meaning to watch the Cycling on ITV 4, but never get around to it.

You sound like Ian Hislop from Have I Got News For You. I have Paul Merton's voice in my head now going: 'Ian doesn't have the '3' button on his remote control..."
would you like to guess what my name is?

Also my remote does have a 3 on it.

Good job - how else would you get to 5* and 5USA quickly on 30 & 31?

Last years episode's were quite boring ans it was just 'Teen week' and characters that people didn't care about.
This years seemes action packed so could pull in the loyal viewers and casual EastEnders viewers that don't watch BGT
Considering though you are the most loyal of EastEnders viewers around here and only just found out about the storyline I don't think it's going to make much difference this week.

It is great though to see two of the countries top shows head to head for a week - the big soaps being afraid to clash means viewers just get half a schedule really on BBC1 and ITV1.

ITV need to be clever in their adverts and time two between 7.30-8pm so they can miss one at 8pm. This should prevent such a switch over to EastEnders on Monday and Friday.

On Tuesday and Thursday they should try and hold off having an advert in the first half hour (or take it as late as possible) then have a couple between 8pm and 8.30pm.
I think though as they will have five breaks and can only have 12 minutes in the 8pm hour (each break is 3.5mins of ads + 20 sec promo) they will have to take two breaks within the first half hour. The latest really they can start their second break is 7.58pm, though that leaves them no ads left to air in between BGT and Corrie - and I suspect they will air ads at programme junctions too so they can get the maximum 36 minutes between 7pm and 10pm.

IIRC last year BGT had breaks after the first act, after the second, then after the fourth, sixth and seventh.

Nice of you to say so but im not quite sure it's true.

I think EastEnders will hold up aswell as it can
If it can stay above last years ratings then thats all to the good imo.

Corrie and Enders have clashed before and the last time (Nov 2009) they were both really dented and had near enough the same ratings so there was NO point really.
It's unfair to make a viewer of both choose.

I'll be surprised if ITV stay on air with the Champions League final until 22:25 considering the final is over in the 90. If they do, the rating will be down quite substantially with 50 minutes post-match.

exactly, also how else would I program my PVR to start a timer recording with a 3 in it.

I have many uses for the 3 button on my remote.

Are people making excuses for ITV already because Man U didn't win?

Why would they not stay with it? It's only news and then highlights of said game to follow anyway.

Clive did sound gutted after that third Barca goal went in.

Why not - they often have to "choose" between dramas at 9pm, entertainment on a Saturday, the news etc. - so why not the soaps, and free up the schedules for something other than cheap filler as an alternative.

To be honest it isn't so much about soap going head to head with soap - it's channels offering a true alternative - so entertainment going head to head with soap for example. It's just a real shame at the moment pre-watershed TV on BBC1 and ITV1 pretty much starts and ends with the soaps.

Lol, I'm not even a Man U fan. Unlike some in this thread...

I thought that they originally put the programme on until 22:20 to save them the hassle of changing the length if it went into extra time.

I have to agree the problem in "The Soap Zone" aka 7pm - 9pm, its not only that 3 soaps air at least 4 episodes in those 2 hours (across the week) its that they dont clash, the auidence hops from one to another, leaving both channels strandard at differnt times, never able to grow a new show off the back of the large ratings of EE or Corrie, as the auidence has gone to the other channel.

Dont get me wrong The One Show doesnt help matters, but "The Soap Zone" needs to be controlled, and allow for new shows to develop in those two hours, hopefully off the back of the two succesful soaps, Corrie & EE.

Coronation Street offers a lead in to the 9pm show on Monday, Thursday and Friday to be fair.

Mm, most of the United fans had deserted the stadium shortly after the final whistle. I guess an army of disaffected fans did the same on tv. Barcelona though play the beautiful game, and alot of neutral and anti United fans would have been lapping it up. No huge peaks though, no extra time and penalty dramas-almost completely one sided with only the one second of Rooneys goal applying any impetus for drama.

Lol, Adrian Chiles almost forgot himself at the end there.

ITV moving soaps from Sunday hasn't helped. Thats an extra hour in the week. At the risk of restarting soap scheduling debates, if the Sunday soap hour was reinstated, probably rating better than The Cube, it would release an hour on weekday primetime, probably Thursday 8pm, for non-soap content.

Hopefully when ITV get Wednesdays free of the Champions League they can find some better quality 8pm material than their current Tuesday night offerings and therefore ensure they have at least one strong weekday non-soap pre-watershed hour

But with the current state of Tuesdays on ITV, can they really afford to disband a successful night? It's something that the BBC and ITV need to get together to discuss, and not just a throw away "Eastenders and Corrie will never clash" comment. It is something that is affecting both channels.

Wonder what day Torchwood: Miracle Day will be scheduled, I would imagine if they are going to showing it near when Starz airs it on July 8th so I'm guessing Fridays at 9pm or Thursdays at 9pm.

Next week's EastEnders looks like an even bigger week then i first thought
One of it's biggest weeks in years and involves a kidnapping and
Spoiler
which runs across the week and David Essex joins on Friday.

Good to see the BBC are not letting BGT have an easy run like last year

Paul O grady Imo would be better on Saturday night's but i always enjoyed the tea-time shows

I saw a trailer for this tonight and I wondered who it was. Was that really David Essex? I didn't recognise him.

I watched the Champions League Final on Sky, as I didn't want to risk missing any goals.

I think you give too much credence to the fact ITV care about their overall programme rating for the champions league final. They only really care about their impacts on their sold commercials and so maximising them is first and foremost, whether their audience rating for the programme was maximised or not I think comes secondary. Therefore I dont think ITV give a monkeys how long the actual programme lasted because they know they have maximised their sold TVRs and in fact continuning the programme further maximises them even more.

I wouldn't normally post this sort of nonsense but it's so laughable - does anyone take it seriously?

"ITV offer £2m to woo Cheryl Cole back to the X Factor UK"

"Cheryl Cole has been told the door is still open for her to return to the British X Factor – but she must make her decision today.

ITV is said to be willing to double the singer’s usual £1.2 million pay packet if she comes back for the next series, but she is said to be unsure of taking the offer given her humiliation on the American version.

Cheryl is understood to be begging Simon Cowell to issue a statement saying she wasn’t sacked from the Fox show – but left because she had a ‘bigger and better’ offer to return home.........

The Girls Aloud singer, who has been holed up in her London flat with her mother Joan since she returned from Los Angeles, is said to be ‘close to breaking point’ over her treatment in the States.

‘She is feeling very fragile and very emotional about everything,’ said one friend. ‘Her confidence has been massively dented and her friends are genuinely worried for her."

7.9m?! Incl +1?!

1.6m less than Eurovision the other week?!

I guess the match must have been at 10m+, but still!

Kudos to DW staying at 5m against the football build up.

What's with the ? There was more non-football than actual football in the broadcast last night, so obviously that brings down the average substantially. The rating is in line with some of the previous final ratings involving England teams especially the ones which didn't go into extra time. The match average and peak was actually up from the 2007 and 2009 finals. As you well know from previous football ratings posted, +1 adds about 0.1m max when it comes to these football matches.

Doctor Who
Last week: 5.7m (29.3%) vs 3.7m (18.9%)
This week: 5.0m (24.4%) vs 3.5m (17.0%)

Strange.
------
I think ITV will be pleased with that, match average is high. Wouldn't have expected much higher, really. Also, I think the ratings prove that The Million Pound Drop does better in a 10pm slot, Channel 4 was winning comfortably from 10:30pm to 11:15pm.

And of course a mention for the F1. I believe that is the highest rating for a European round ever - or at least as far as the data that I have goes back. So a very good rating for itself, I imagine the peak was close to 4m as viewers tuned in to see Sergio Perez's status.

The 1.6m were probably watching Sky Sports!

And of course we know football build up shows always rate very highly.
